DOWN TO THE WIRE

Another 5pm kick off for 1TM and another 5pm scorcher to contend with. In our penultimate game of the season, we faced up to 3rd place Hibs, who historically have always been a difficult opponent for us so we knew a big performance was needed to stay in the title race. 1TM were out of the blocks quickly and started the game with real intent. On 4 minutes, we were a goal up thanks to a good period of passing play to get Yuto San out wide and his precise cross was met first time by Sharples as he buried it past the keeper. 4 minutes later, we were 2-0 up after more good play from our front three of Duplo, Flat White and Sharples. More fluid football found our number 9 in space and he finished well when 1 on 1 with the ‘keeper. 1TM continued to cause Hibs problems when we went forward and on 18 minutes, it was 3 thanks to more great play from Sharples and a composed finish. We were 5-0 up going into halftime thanks to another good finish from Flat White and a brilliantly taken half volley by Duplo at the back stick. Our tails were up but to Hibs’ credit, we were unable to build on our lead in the second half. A mix of good defending, sloppy finishing and excellent goalkeeping from the Hibs ‘keeper meant that there were no further goals for us. On the Beach

One to forget for Hibs as we turned a limp display and 1TM took full advantage to boost their title chances with some goals. 1TM were 3-0 up in 16 minutes thanks to a Sharples hat-trick and Hibs were way off the pace with mistakes throughout. The only work POB had to do was save a Bolts effort from a tight angle and Darshan caused the full-back some problems, but it was one-way traffic which lead to a 5-0 ht score. We didn't concede second half with Billy having a very good game saving from Sharples a couple of times and others. Bolts came close in the only half-chance created as the game was a bit more even second half. One more to go.
