Sharpled

Amazing finishing from Sharples saw 1TM run out 5-0 winners in this clash. The scoreline is harsh on Vikings who were competitive for over an hour. Sharples increased his goal tally by 5 and I would suggest that no keeper in the league would have saved any of them - real quality. Congratulations to our opponents, we wish them well for the remainder of the season.

RAZOR SHARP(LES)

A scorching 5pm kick off at Turf City set the scene for Saturday’s 3rd and final clash of the season against the Singapore Vikings. Both sides had a few faces missing from their squads, but Tactical Tally had worked his magic again and had assembled a strong 14. From his technical area in Bali, Tally had decided to give young Boggy his first start of the season, after impressing from the bench in his last two matches, and a Singapore debut was handed to ‘keeper Mark Collett (Clicky) in place for POB. Despite the heat, 1TM began the game strongly but were just missing the final killer ball in the opening exchanges. A great chance for us came when Sharples made himself some space and his shot on the angle cannoned off the post and across the face of goal. In reply, the Vikings’ only notable chance came when Tinks was put under pressure from their midfield and his back pass was over hit and forced a good stop from Clicky who turned it wide. On 33 minutes, Duplo got himself facing the opposition goal and ran at the Vikings’ defence. His through ball found Sharples, who just managed to hold his run, and his left foot finish lashed past the ‘keeper’s dive to make it 1-0. HT 1-0 With lots of quality to come off the bench, we knew we had more to offer especially as space was going to open up as the game wore on. On 60 minutes, Flat White came away with the ball on the counter and played a nicely weighted ball to Sharples. Our Number 9 switched it onto his right foot and guided the ball into the far corner. 2-0. It was almost a carbon copy for our third on 78 minutes as once more Flat White played through Sharples. Another switch onto his right foot and this time the finish was across the ‘keeper and into the top corner. Great goal for 3-0. 4 minutes later, Sharples got his fourth of the afternoon when Boggy raced down the touchline and drilled a low cross into the box. Magical footwork from the in-form striker enabled him to elude a couple of defenders and then calmly finish when the space presented itself. 4-0 The final goal of the day was scored with 5 minutes left. Lego played a sublime ball through to Sharples and when he found himself through 1:1 and there was only going to be one winner. 5 goals for Sharples to send his traveling support wild! Seeing the scoreline and reading the report back, it could be safe to assume that this was straightforward result. The fact that our players voted the 1TM MOM as defender JCG on a day when Sharples scored 5 tells a fuller picture of the contest. Thanks to the whole squad and the Vikings’ players for their part in today’s match; the officials for managing the game well; Didge, POB, AOB, and Lucky Charm Mrs Sharples and friends for supporting.
