BOGGY BOGGY BOGGY... OI OI OI!

Much of the pregame build up was around which of the two ‘keepers would be feeling the freshest after they were both spotted in Boat Quay on Friday night. As the two number 1’s shook hands before the game, it was clear that neither was feeling any effects and were ready for the challenges that the next 90 minutes would bring. 1TM and Hibs were treated to a brief rain shower just prior to the kick off which helped to cool the soaring temperature that often comes with the 3pm start. Each side started well with 1TM enjoying the better of the possession but Hibs managed to carve some half chances out. The midfield battle was key with both sets of players enjoying good spells. After 45 minutes, you couldn’t separate either of the sides. 0-0. 1TM had the better of the second half and began to create much more of a threat in attack. The closest we came to breaking the deadlock was from a delightful ball over the top by Chocolate Orange / Benjamin Button / Charlton that sent Sharples in on goal but his dink over the keeper hit the post and out for a goal kick. Our squad depth is such a strength at the moment and with 20 to go Tally rang the changes and the fresh legs and quality we were able to bring on proved to be the difference. On 85 minutes, the ball found its way to Flat White on the left who’s deep cross to the far post found Boggy waiting. The 16 year old capped off a fine performance by finding himself a yard of space and produced a fine finish to spark wild celebrations. 1-0 There was still time for Hibs to apply a bit of pressure when they had a free kick delivered dangerously into the box but POB came through a crowd of players and got a good fist to the ball to send it clear and with that the ref blew the final whistle. Well done to Hibs for their part in a great fixture. Thanks to the officials for managing it well and Ruby, Didge and Team Sharples for coming down to support. Kit - ? Late Drama

Hibs were narrowly defeated with 5 minutes left by title-chasing Latini in a really competitive game. The first half was pretty even with Bill having one shot straight at him that he dealt well with and Hibs threatening through Dan, Thorin and Julio. The big moment of the half saw Julio burst through from midfield and if he hadn't been tripped, he'd would have been bearing down on POB. Agent Buff had been at work the night before making sure POB drank enough to impair his usual high levels, so we would have backed Julio. However, Hibs could not quite believe the trip was missed and the second yellow for Fraser was missed. Fair play to Rob for explaining later, but this was a big moment just before half-time. Latini switched things up and tried to match Sharples against every one of our back line, but they all dealt with him brilliantly in a quiet game for the striker. He had one great chance when played in over the top but it bounced wide. Hibs had shots blocked and Thorin hit one just wide and and had another palmed agonisingly out of reach of Bolts. Injuries started to impact the Hibs and the lads had to stay on to fight through it. Latini's winner, scored with a sweet hit at the far post, took a deflection and found the roof of the net and gave Bill no chance. The last set-piece for Hibs was the last nervous moment for Latini and hopefully POB is okay after a big collision to divert the danger. All the best to Latini and MoM was their goalscorer for winning the game. Max was MoM for Hibs for great midfield play and his usual press after faking a Dr's note to play.
