The Monkey magic not quite enough versus ten men!

First tit of the day award for Owen, crazy referee decisions throughout the game, great goalkeeping from both Daniele and Ronnie, a sending off, sh**e final balls, Rick Flair chants and a married Ballsey!! Not sure which is the most surprising out of all that! A very competitive game from the start with SCC starting strong but their game fell away and the Monkeys gained more dominance and looked dangerous on the break but Ronnie passed any test thrown his way but the SCC had countless moments behind the monkey defence that pigsy would be proud of but could not produce that final ball to convert those good openings. The second half seen both SCC and monkeys have their moments in the game but both goalkeepers were just too strong on the day and then with SCC going down to 10 men with 20 minutes to go, the monkeys must have thought the goal would come but SCC played very smart indeed and still looked dangerous with great runs occurring especially from both Liam and Jahan but that elusive final pass was not good enough to get our strikers on the ball to finish. The game ended a draw and deservedly so. Well done to the Monkeys and we certainly look forward to the return! For SCC, more training along with some regulars returning back to the squad will see us in better form next week!

Dempsey Deadlock

An entertaining game down at Dempsey ended in stalemate despite both teams having chances to take the points. A strong 17 man squad for this one meant we fancied our chances of taking away at least a point. A few changes to the line up, with Samse coming in at right back, and our Spanish trio of JJ, Joel and Cristian returning to the side after questionable absences last week. Addy was benched by coach Fraser for the second week running, as rumours of a rift between the two intensify. First half was a good battle. SCC had the better of the opening 20mins and might have had a penalty when Liam went down in the box but following some confusion, the ref seemed to change his mind after a chat with his linesman. Would’ve been soft if given but an escape nonetheless. We came into the game after that and started playing some decent football through Polo, Jamie and JJ in the middle. Cristian had 2 glorious chances to give us the lead - the first a one on one, and the second a shot just over the bar after good work from Peter and Jamie on the right. That first goal’s coming soon. I can feel it! HT 0-0 and well in the game. The message was to keep our discipline and take our chances when they came (easier said than done...) About 15 mins in to the 2nd half, a scuffle resulted in a red card for SCC and presented us with a massive opportunity. SCC refused to sit back though and that made for a very entertaining last 30 mins, with us trying to exploit the gaps at the back and at the same time stop their dangerous front 3. Our subs gave us some extra energy, Marko and Tudor in particular making good contributions. And we could’ve nicked it when Addy got in behind but, instead of squaring it to the 3 players waiting in the middle, shot straight at the keeper. Typical. Harry and Matt made several key interceptions at the back and Daniele pulled off a great save to keep us in it just before full time. There was still time for one last chance though... JJ, our midfield maestro, our creative genius, the apple of our collective eyes, picked up the ball in final third and unselfishly rolled the ball across to Sippy on the edge of the box. Sippy’s eyes lit up. This was his moment. Our moment. The day we finally win at Dempsey. As he pulled the trigger, Dempsey fell silent in anticipation. Even the birds stopped tweeting and the snakes stopped hissing. He let fly with textbook technique, honed over his long and illustrious career. The ball arrowed like a missile towards the goal...was comfortably saved by Ronnie and the game finished 0-0. Sigh. Overall a draw was a fair result. Thanks to SCC and the ref team. The flashpoint aside, a great game to be a part of. MOM Aioli - Harry. Another extremely mature performance at CB, keeping SCC’s frontline quiet. MOM SCC - Ronnie
