Happy st Patrick's day A pattys day victory for Aioli PM in turf city this Friday night after we took on hibernians. A poor start from us and an end to end first half with neither team keeping much possession. Hibs battled well and stopped a lot of what we were trying with their solid cm combination, limiting our possession and chances. We were struggling to create until 20 mins in when addy got free in the box and after a good save from the hibs keeper addy passed the the rebound to the cross bar, luckily it dropped to Ivan's left and he rifled it in for 1-0. The lead didn't last long and a poor clearance left the hibs striker a chance in the box and he drilled it in on 30. I think it was 2-1 at HT after addy got one for us. The bread basket was waddling around like he was full of Guinness and ejected himself at half time belly still jiggling from his last attempt at a pass. Up stepped tarek to fill his boots. Second half and hibs equalised after a poor clearance and a good cross was met by the head of the on rushing hibs player. 2-2 at 55mins and a very close game to call. We stepped it up at this stage and with the introduction of tarek we were starting to look more dangerous passing in the final third. After winning a corner benji curled it in but it beat everybody and got to the far post. Addy retrieved it and cut out on his right foot to curl it into the bottom corner and give us the 3-2 lead. We controlled the game very well for the last 20 and managed to secure 2 more goals when some lovely football from chris and adri put addy in and a the last a nicely waited through ball from Andy saw addy get there before the keeper and stick his 4th in the back of the net. Great result for us considering it was a very close game. Thanks to hibs for a good party's day battle. Mom addy for 4 quality goals with benji and Greg putting in great performances on the right side. MOM Hibs the CM Next up Gaelic lions, a 6 pointer in the race for 4th.
Hibs looked forward to another goal-fest with Aioli PM but hoped to be on the winning side of it this time. In an even start, Aioli reacted quickest to a shot that rebounded off the bar and the winger did well to wrap his foot around it to score the opener. Hibs responded well and equalised with Nick following in on a blocked Talbot effort and then looked the most likely to get the next goal. The corners kept coming, free-kicks were forced and Julio was causing all kinds of problems. Colin had a one-on-one saved, Talbot hit the post and Nick could well have earnt a penalty after a clumsy tackle, but it remained level. Hibs went behind in the second half after Addy picked up the loose ball and found the far corner well. They responded again, though and An-Rui crossed well for Jamie to score a low header. Joey and An-Rui then had to go off and Tit did too and the midfield reshuffle saw the momentum shift. Hibs defended disappointingly and handed Aioli a couple of easy chances and the game got away from them. Mom was Jamie for Hibs and Addy for Aioli PM.
