Hibernian secured an impressive 4-1 victory over their German opponents with a commanding performance. Sam opened the scoring with a simple tap-in before Fabian marked his debut in style, rifling a shot into the top corner to make it 2-0. The Germans pulled one back, but Hibs responded emphatically. Tiago restored the two-goal cushion with a stunning long-range effort, before Sam capped off a superb display with another spectacular strike from distance. The only blemish was a baffling yellow card for Jack deep into the second half—an obvious mistake from the referee—but it didn’t take away from Hibs’ deserved win.
The game started of on a rainy evening with GAS team gaining confidence from previous encounter with Hibs which saw GAS emerge as the winners. With the squad available for the evening, GAS coaches were confident that a repeat of last week was possible. GAS decided to play with 4-4-2 formation and the game started with both teams trying to keep possession from the beginning. On the 13th min, Hibs intercepted a loose pass at the edge of the box lead to the first goal. GAS conceded the 2nd goal around 30th minute when a cross in the box & shot by Hibs nestled at the right corner of the goal. GAS quickly organized their defense lines noticing Hibs usual style of play by switching long ariel balls from CBs to their wingers, which was intercepted by our wing backs. GAS midfield also put in their effort by closing the Hibs CM’s from making any runs into the middle of the pitch by dropping deep when they couldn’t play the long balls. The first half ended with score line of 0-2. GAS came back into the 2nd half with 4-5-1 formation, trying to overload the midfield with some energy and fresh legs, determined to claw our way back into the game. These changes saw, more through passes being played by GAS midfield bypassing the Hibs defense lines and finding our wingers which lead to more shots on target by GAS. The moment came, when a handball inside the box by Hibs defender, saw a penalty awarded to GAS. The penalty was scored with panache which gave no chance of opponent GK even after diving the right way. However, the lack of stamina & fatigue was beginning to show for the ever-resilient GAS side, who conceded 2 more goals on the 67th & 85th minutes which ended the game with a defeat for GAS with final score line of 1-4. Good luck to Hibs for the remainder of the cup! MoM to Kris for being a role model for fair intensity and fight to the last minute DoD to Mark Addy for playing better passes to Hibs then to his team mates ;-) also leading to the early goal
