A hat-trick of hat-tricks. The third player to grab three this season. An occurance almost unheard of given the many 'dogged' Gaelic Lions performances over the years. Jaysus, isn't the ball hard to pick up in those lights? Goalkeepers' kicks causing chaos...well mis clearances or one from Shailer that was allowed to bounce just ouside the box. Xav must have closed his eyes expecting a clobber from the keeper. 6 yards out he headed over. Shailer pissed he didn't get another assist. Xav more than made up for it. Earlier he calmly finished his first and got the decisive goal to make it 3-2 with a lovely, lovely second. And was taken out for the penalty (it was clearly a penalty but can empathise with some of the confusion resulting from the process). And then Xav collected his fourth from a Hans ball over the top to make it 4-2. And, and, he laid off to a marauding Tom who on 85 mins came screeching down from left back, with loads in the tank, to make it 5. Delighted for the young man. Germans came back twice - all credit to their endeavour - and it was a nervy, at times frustrating night that never quite got going until the last 15 for us. Both sides clearly down numbers with CNY and lucky to welcome back Paul and new addition Eric. A hattrick of hattricks. Wouldn't have seen that in my day. Youngsters.
Friday night lights saw GSAS take on the Gaelic Lions. Both teams seemed to have players missing, which resulted in Glenn "T-800" Davies giving his Cosmo Debut with 50+. 1st half saw GL take the lead with a slightly deflected shot, and Mark Addy scoring the equalizer with his trademark run right before half time. GSAS was a little lucky with the result as Lions had the better share of the ball, but chances wise, it seemed relatively even. GSAS coming out strong, hitting the post after a great shot from Quirin, and a ball cleared behind the line, which was, however, not given. On the other end a perfectly normal tackle saw No 19 go down (no dive though), and after some 30 seconds the linesman decided to call Alex. During their consultation No 19 himself said it's no penalty, however, the linesman had his own agenda and sadly Alex refused to consult the Lions player....1-2. GSAS equalized after Dee tapped in a volley, but a minute later No19 scored a Robben like curl, great goal. That broke the GSAS morale and with opening up a little Lions scored 2 more. A harsh result looking at the run of play, and especially the undeserved penalty. Thanks Lions for a very fair match, your MoM clearly is No 19 who not only scored 3, but is also displayed great sportsmanship throughout. GSAS MoM to T800 who ran his socks off andĀ almostĀ scored.
