The latest round of Cosmo games saw all, but one team return to action in a busy weekend for our Cosmo League teams.
Hibernians pulled off the biggest win of the weekend, as they put four goals passed defending champions TGA Rangers. The win meant that the men in green moved up to third place in the League, if just for a few hours. By 5pm on Saturday, Vikings had quickly addressed this as they leapfrogged back over Hibs, after a hard-fought 2-0 win over a hard-working and by all accounts unlucky German-Swiss All-Stars.
Elsewhere Latini and Gaelic Lions shared the points in a six-goal thriller. In-form 1TM Latini striker, Luke Townsend, walked away with the match ball, after recording the first Cosmo League first hatrick of the decade. The other league fixture of the weekend saw Singapore Football Club finally overcome a belligerent Hotspurs team 2-0, to ensure they returned to the top of the league table.
Finally, in the only Cosmo Cup game of the weekend, Olympique Gaulois made sure they could continue to defend their trophy, as they ran out 3-1 winners against Purple Monkeys. Knowing they needed to win, to still be able to enter the knock out stages, OGS won an open game that could have gone either way, by all accounts (and even involved a penalty that hit both posts...!)
This weekend sees no action, as the league takes a break whilst we usher in the Year of the Metal Rat.
In the meantime, we would like to wish everyone a prosperous and happy Lunar New Year - Gong Xi Fa Cai!
