Another high scoring round in week 6 of the Cosmo League, 28 goals in total! Kiki took his total to 10 for the season after not only scoring 5 but also assisting the other 3 in OG’s dismantling of Latini in their 8-2 victory. Gaulois appear to be really gathering momentum and their superior goal difference sees them head the table from SFC who secured their 4th win on the bounce with a 4-1 victory over GSAS. Judging from the report it was a balanced affair during the first half but SFC managed to wriggle free and secure the points with a more dominant performance during the second. Vikings sit in 3rd position as they raced into an early 4 goal lead against Nippon, Meli netting his 3rd hat-trick in 4 games. Nippon reduced the deficit with 2 goals of their own but it was little too late for Japanese outfit. The game was marred by a number of over physical challenges which saw two Vikings end up in Raffles emergency room, we wish them a speedy recovery. Elsewhere, Gaelic secured their first point of the season when sharing the spoils with Hibs in a 2-2 draw, they will be disappointed to have not taken all 3 points after being pegged back by a Julio Vasquez stunner just before the end. It is great to read of the kind donation that Gaelic offered towards ‘Gilly’s Fund’, class act fellas! The final result of the weekend saw Aioli return to winning ways after a Joe Wright brace saw them run out 3-0 victors against a winless Hotspurs.
Next week Cosmo games take a backseat and the first round of the reformatted Cosmo Cup kicks off, we look forward to welcoming outside teams and the challenge they will provide.
Until next time, have a good week!
