Another stinking hot afternoon at Turf City meant we knew it was going to be a tough slog against Hotspurs at a 3pm kick off. That proved quite accurate in the first half, with both sides cresting chances, although arguable the Lions looking more dangerous on the counter. And it was one of those counters that gave us the lead, with one of our five aussies now playing for the lions, Xavier Sproule, finishing the ball nicely from a tight angle. Second half was much better. A wonderfully taken volley from Swordsy gave us a much needed second, with more nice finishes from Zach, Swordsy and Xavier again. A particularly pleasing second half performance and with an average age of 18 in the back line today, they held their own very well. A huge thanks to Hotspurs for the game and to the officials as always.
Once again Hotspurs struggling for numbers however we managed to put together a full squad. Unfortunately a poor performance all round and one to forget. Gaelic scored some fantastic goals included a first time volley to make it 2-0. Second half tiredness took its toll however a spirited last 20 whereby no further goals were conceded is a slight positive. Thanks Gaelic for a good game.
