Outclassed

The three games on Friday nights have not gone well this past month. SFC powered to a 9-0 win and we didn’t really lay a glove on them. They played some lovely football and were just as good out of possession as in it and were the best team we've faced this season. Some of the goals we just had to applaud as the one touch build up tore through the Hibs at times and when they had Liam to bring on at half-time when it was already 5-0, we knew we were in trouble. Claridge put on a masterclass and scored a belter so he was our MoM but it could have gone to a couple of their ex pros playing tonight. We’ll look forward to a Saturday kick-off and try to regroup next week. The application was there tonight but SFC had too much quality for us to handle on the night.

Cloud Nine

Second played third as Singapore FC faced off against Hibernians in this highly anticipated COSMO showdown at The Cage. After a cagey start from both sides highflying Ryosuke Ataku made his mark after just 12 minutes of play. Shahril Ishak coming in from the left and playing in Fazrul who's lay off to Ataku still left him with work to do. Ataku electing to clip the ball over the Hibs keeper to make it 1-0. This set the tone for the next 30 minutes of SFC dominance. Jahan Rezai’s goal in the 25th minute was something special; consisting of 20 passes and six SFC players and a nutmeg before the SFC skipper executed the final touch with aplomb. 2-0. Fazrul Nawaz then stole the spotlight with a remarkable hat-trick (hot on the heels of his 6 goals from the previous week), as he found the back of the net in the 35th, 37th, and 52nd minutes. Liam Shotton continued his impressive form, scoring his second goal in as many games, just after half time. Michael Campion’s header in the 77th minute capped off a brilliant player of the match performance, whilst SFC's goal-scoring defender, Patrick Beckford, made it 8-0 with a goal in the 80th minute. Finally, Joe Claridge, after numerous assists, displayed his trademark left-foot finesse, scoring with just four minutes from time to make it 9-0, which is how it stayed. Thank you to Hibs for a well contested match throughout. They can consider themselves unlucky to be on the receiving end, on an evening where everything seemed to go in for SFC.
