Match Review: SCC Firsts vs German-Swiss All Stars

The talk on everyone’s lips pre match was who the German All Stars have signed to keep them flying high at the top of the Cosmo League table. Was it Schweinsteiger, Podolski, or maybe Heiko has returned from his 2 year trip travelling around the world. To everyone’s surprise it was Regensburger, Wiechmann and Wolff that have changed the Germans fortunes this year, but SCC knew they would be in for a tough game. The game started with both teams finding it hard to play much football due to the tough weather conditions, however as the game went on, SCC seemed to be dealing with the conditions better than the Germans. SCC soon took the lead when Liam created a couple of yards before drilling the ball into the bottom corner. Contender for goal of the season. The Germans soon got a goal back when a free kick was deflected off the wall and into the back of the net. SCC soon took the lead again when Liam was brought down in the box for a penalty. Liam got to his feet and fired the ball home from the penalty spot to make it 2-1. The Germans were still battling well and have added some good players to their squad this year, weren’t going down without a fight. They were level after their big forward powered a header off the bar and in. Liam then scored his hat-trick when he beat 2 German defenders and fired the ball into the bottom of the corner. 3-2 at half time. The second half continued and Liam was not finished with his days’ work. He then made it 4-2 when he glanced a header home. His fifth goal game soon after when he initially hit the ball off the wall, only for the ball to come back to him before smashing the ball into the corner from 25 yards out. Another contender for goal of the season. Liam’s sixth came on the final whistle when he burst past 3 Germans defenders before coolly lifting the ball over the onrushing German keeper. Another goal of the season contender. 6 goals from Liam who was head and shoulders above anyone else on the field today. 3 of his goals will probably be up there with the best you will see this year in any league. MOM for the German All Stars goes to Bastian. Worked hard throughout and was a difficult man to handle up front.

GAS lost against Liam

Good start, we were in the game from the first second. SCC score on their first occasion after 15min but we got the mental to come back to 1-1 5 min after by Mickaël free kick. The game was tight and we contest each ball. SCC use to play long ball on their 2 good stickers and this how they score their second goal with the same guy, technically good, fast and accurate. We again did not give up and keep playing and score the 2-2 by quirin around the 30min. The pitch was very hard to play for both team and we were at equal but again at 5 min from the half time the same player get the ball in the box and score. We started with good intention but the ref decided to give a kind penalty very early in the game that put the score to 4-2. We got then 15min where we were unstabilized. Then we litle by litle re started to play but were not able to to put SCC keeper in dangeur. It again on a long ball on Scc striker that they obtained a good free kick that he luckily put in our goal 5-0. The 6th goal of the same player was meaningless. Despite the heavy score, we really did our best but SCC were better than us. There is nothing to be shame of because this guy (professionally level) made the difference. Keep in mind that the first half was very very tight. Let's focus now on the next game and found again the songs of a victory with our fighting spirit.
