The Run In Begins

With two matches against the top four teams in the final run in SFC started with a big challenge versus a very motivated Hibs team. Hibs brought the energy right from the opening whistle and had the better of the play in the first half. Some outstanding saves from Santino kept the scoreline at 0-0. We regrouped at halftime and started to play the way we know we can and put Hibs under much more pressure. Joe Claridge eventually broke the deadlock and put us up 1-0 from a volleyed strike inside the penalty area from a previous deflection. Liam added another after a quick turn and a fantastic long strike to cap it off. The match ended 2-0, but it wasn't without a struggle as once again Hibs stepped up and gave us a very competitive match throughout. It was only through the stellar play of Santino in goal that we were able to secure the three points and continue a run on the title. Let's hope they can also give the same challenge to 1TM when the face each other in the coming weeks. MoM for SFC was Santino Shephard and Max for Hibs.

It wouldn't go in

Hibs couldn't find a way to get past the MoM SFC goal-keeper under the lights as they lost 0-2. SFC barely threatened in the first half as Hibs controlled long spells and really should have been ahead at the break. Max had a shot tipped onto the post after a jinking run, Bolts had a decent chance straight at the keeper, Patrick hit a thunderbolt that was brilliantly tipped over, and Sergio flashed a couple across goal. SFC stepped it up in the second half and went ahead when a clearance fell to Claridge, who volleyed in. Hibs wobbled a bit but eventually got back to playing and Jamie forced an outstanding save out of the 'keeper from 6 yards. Shotton produced a bit of magic when he smashed one in from 25 yards after a quick turn to make it 2-0. Hibs kept on pushing and a handball on the line meant it was a penalty and with Julio out injured for this fixture, Bolts stepped up and had his effort saved with 15 to play. No idea how Hibs didn't score in this game and another clear penalty was waved away this time to everyone's amazement as Hrithhish was chopped down. As mentioned, MoM was the SFC 'keeper for crucial stops that decided the game. A few stand-out performers for Hibs, but Max ran the game and he took some hits that went unpunished so he did brilliantly to get on with his game.
