GSAS were hoping to send off key players Alain, Rafa and Ant with a win. Rain delayed the start of the game, and it turned out that Hibs were more ready when the game kicked off. They had more of the ball, but did not create much, until the GSAS defenders combined for a horrible mix-up which allowed the Hibs an easy opening goal. GSAS got better into the game, particularly over the right side where Aris tormented his opponents. But it was Hibs again on the scoresheet after a quick counter attack down the right, which was easily finished off by the striker with a tap-in. GSAS then upped the tempo and was initially kept out by an incredible save by the Hibs keeper (remember Ramsdale against Maddison/Leicester?). But GSAS were not denied when Alain found the corner with his left foot after some more good work from Aris. Although 1:2 down GSAS felt that the Hibs were beatable today. The second half saw good football from both teams, with GSAS probably seeing more of the ball in the Hibs box. But nothing happened, until Giv turned his defender and went down. Everybody heard the contact (Giv felt it, VAR did not see it) and no whistle was to be heard. Tough call to stomach for the underdogs. With the game running out, GSAS pushed up more players and were caught out by a clinical counter attack. 1:3 Hibs, in a great game of football, played in the best Cosmo league spirit.
