After a rather disappointing outing last weekend against OG, GSAS was keen to get a result. The first 45 minutes saw almost complete domination by the men in white. Alain’s well taken goal in the 13th minute settled the nerves. Alain hit the post on the half hour, and a minute later Erik’s cross landed on the crossbar. So it was no surprise when Jens doubled the lead just before the break. Fully deserved. After the water break in the second half, GSAS continued to do well. The game was evenly poised now. The last goal of the game was scored by Rafa in the last minute, in what is likely his penultimate game for the Club. For more than an hour GSAS did extremely well, containing Nippon to half-chances. However, and in order to be fully transparent, there was a period from the 45+1 minute to the 68th minute where GSAS was completely absent, and Nippon scored six unanswered goals. If truth be told, three of the goals were absolute gifts, but some of the other goals were expertly taken by Nippon. The coaching team is still trying to understand how the team could simply collapse and concede six goals in the space of 23 minutes, after totally controlling the game until that moment. Well done Nippon, and thanks to Alex and team, who had no problem controlling the game.
