It took us 5 months to enjoy the taste of a victory and we clearly missed it ! Game started relatively slowly and despite the 5pm kick off the baking atmosphere clearly impacted both teams. It took us a few minute to adjust a new 3-5-1-1 line up but we gradually controlled the ball and got rewarded with Ewan nicely finishing a counter attack. The German on the other side created a few opportunities well managed by our defensive trio and our new keeper Raph. It took us quite a while to put the second goal mainly due to GSAS young keeper who produced 3-4 absolute stunning saves. But JB finally managed to score and we finished the first half at 2-0. Second part of the game turned easier than the much disputed 1st half. Robin and Anatole entry allowed to have much more depth and behind Ewan, Thibault were covering the sides while Arnaud, Nati and Daniel continued their perfect defensive job. Inaki and ifan continued to grasp many balls in the midfield and Dani, JB and Anatole brought the score to 5-0. GSAS did not give up and got rewarded at the end of the game. A long awaited win for OGS which we hope will ba the (very late) turning point in our season. Thanks to our German friend and to the refs for fair played game
Few of the greatest German football players of the past used similar phrases to recap games. In short, the game was definitely not the highlight of our day. The result – 5:1, unfortunately not in our favor. Our performance – Overall: Still much upside potential. Especially the first half was not a pleasant game to watch from the sidelines. We improved our game in the second half. We could better keep the ball in our possession and even showed some nice combinations by keeping the ball on the ground. The 3rd goal broke our necks and we ended up getting another two last minute goals. Our opponent – Against Olympique Gaulois, one could say it was even a derby. They seemed to be a beatable team that day. After 90 min, we must admit that they had some very talented players on the pitch and from a tactical standpoint, they played a clever game. Our best – Our keeper Nicolas. Once again, an amazing performance. Our highlight – … was our team dinner after the game. Although we did not really have something to celebrate about the Saturday’s game, it was a very nice and enjoyable evening. There is a lot of spirit in this team, and I am sure we will be winners soon again! Many thanks to Urs and wife for the great evening!
