Welcome Debuts

SFC took the pitch vs OGS on Saturday afternoon in baking temperatures. SFC went into the match knowing they were carrying a few injuries and also looking forward to the debuts of a couple special players in Michael Campion (Campo) who joined recently from Hong Kong and Cherlie Heth from our SFC academy. It didn't take Charlie Heth long to put his stamp on the match after a tidy 1-2 with Joe Claridge, young Charlie crossed the ball across the face of the goal for a ready Faz to put into the back of the net and put SFC up 1-0 with an early lead. The rest of the half saw SFC struggle to find the crisp movements and passing they saw in the first 5 minutes and also saw Santino come up with a few critical saves against an OGS side that were determined to bring the match back to level. Unfortunately, a tough collision between Faz and the OGS GK meant the early substitution of SFC's leading scorer. We wish Faz a speedy recovery. Credit to OGS who were helpful in seeing to Faz after the collision. Just before half time SFC added to the lead with a wonder goal from new boy Campo striking the ball first time from outside the penalty area after being picked out well by Josh Jones. It was a tough blow for the morale of OGS who had competed well through the first half and nearly equalised on several occasions. SFC came out of the gates in the second half ready to play better football. Only a few minutes after the break Liam put Campo in on goal with a lovely through pass and Campo finished clinically low and inside the far post with his left foot. After that goal, and in the intense 3pm heat, it was a tall order for OGS to find a path back into the match. SFC added three more goals in the second half with a first for SFC by Patrick Beckford and two more to see the match out by Liam Shotton. It was a well competed match played fairly by both teams. A big thank you to OGS as this was our last match for the season and we wish you the best in your upcoming fixtures.

Report

Good first half and then collapse

As usual we fought an initial battle to gather the troops with some last minute unfortunate drop but managed to gather a decent squad. First half started poorly with a first goal conceded after 10min. Our substitute aligned with the last pass players will tell you that it was offside but the ref decided otherwise. Despite this decision we entered a strong battle and created at least 4 clear opportunities but like last week against Gaelic we failed to be clinical. On the other side SFC did not have a lot of chances and were properly contained. Unfortunately a last occasion enabled them to take a 2-0 lead at half time. Clearly harsh on us one more time. The energy spent in first half cost us in second half. We were still sleeping when the game started again and quickly conceded the third. Then nothing much to say In the second half. Team was tired and cut in two which resulted made the score heavier. Next hibs to finally try to bounce back
