With more draws than an incontinent IKEA salesmen, we had high hopes of bagging a win with a strong starting team and John O'Shea in nets. Hotspurs had other ideas and started the brightest, scoring after five, keeping ball well and a lovely assist to unpick our defence, striker finishing well. We played some decent ball ourselves thereafter with Hotspurs continuing to cause challenges on the break. Lovely move with Ronan finding a menacing Dom down the right who rolled it back across for Charlie to pass it in from ten. Then Churchie stepped out like Beckenbaur and his drive from 30 yards tipped over the crossbar. But Hotspurs stepped it up for ten minutes after the water break. With lots of pressure they bagged two headers from corners. Despite our best efforts and lots of joy down either flank we couldn't get a second before half time. 3-1 We were actually playing pretty well and continued in the second half. Finally got the break through with a lovely through ball from Dom finding Smithie who finished well. We kept pressing and got a peno which Ronan slotted. Just couldn't get over the line despite coming close and Hotspurs continued to look dangerous from set pieces. Even Motsey (RIP) wouldn't have been able to sport the sheepskin this week in what was another swelter. Great to see a strong Hotspurs team out and an enjoyable game where we shared the spoils.
