Wet, wet, wet…..

Another soaked Friday night at pitch 3 saw the points shared between GSAS & Vikings. Probably the right result on the night!

Finally...at least a point

GSAS reach 1:1 draw against Singapore Vikings thanks to good morale and body language One of those floodlit games on Friday night at 9 p.m., when GSAS had a strong squad to draw on. In less than ideal pitch conditions after the rain at Turf City, both teams started without much risk. The first 20 minutes the game was mainly played in the midfield, without significant scoring chances on both sides, but with slight advantages for the Vikings. With increasing playing time, the GSAS came better into the game and had several chances as a result. First a shot by Julian from 25 meters, after the goalkeeper of the Vikings stood too far in front of his goal. Shortly thereafter followed a nice combination over the right wing, where Diyar missed the chance free in front of the goalkeeper. The Vikings were fortunate that the referee ruled a handball in the penalty area in favor of the Vikings and denied GSAS a potential penalty kick. Almost in return, a long ball caused coordination problems in the defense, so that the opponent got the ball and scored the first goal of the evening after a cross from the left. Halftime (0:1) After the halftime break, the game remained even, but the Vikings had chances to take a 2:0 lead. Thanks to several strong actions of the goalkeeper Nicolas, especially in two one-on-one situations and a collective defense, the score remained 0:1. GSAS became better again and shifted the game more and more into the Vikings' half but had problems to create clear chances. So it took until a cross from the left into the penalty area for danger. Quirin's header found Ant, who only had to push the ball in from close range. The result was brought sovereign over time. Final score a well-deserved 1:1.
