What's the attraction of that Bangkok place? With half a squad of professional educators imparting wisdom to impressionable students in the city of angels, the remaining Lions gave up their Friday night womanising to take on the Vikings. A little further disruption with skipper Church pulling up in the warm up, and we doubled down on planning for a solid start. Generally worked ok with first shot from either side only coming after 15 mins. Basically we bored Vikings into submission (or both bored ourselves?) and they opened up a little. Right winger Younnes looked dangerous and his battle with Will at least kept everyone engaged on the sideline. A few corners and a long range effort from Domino that dropped onto the crossbar after 30. And now with a little more space in front of their back four, Daiki got the ball at number 10, drove at them and shot from 20, the ball skimming across the wet surface into the corner. Good goal from our Japanese warrior who was rumoured to have dropped some amphetamine as an homage to his Bangkok breathren. Well deserved MoM and he never stopped running. Should and could've have been two with a couple of clear break aways but Vikings scrambled well. Second half was tougher for us and Vikings played all the football in fairness. And 20 in, our third player injury from already a thin squad. Yet we dug in admirably with a number of lads playing out of position and being moved around as we sellotaped together our 11. Almost got away with it until a handball (following a defo handball by us that wasn't given at halfway...haha!) gave Vikings a peno with 15 to go. 1-1. Then Vikings pushed and finally got in down the right and squeezed the ball over the line. Huffed and puffed for the last 10 but Vikings won the game and rewarded for playing more football. Thanks for the game and beers as always.
