STAfter a couple of weeks off, it was great to be back playing Cosmo again. A combination of holidays (Tactical Tally on an overseas footballing recruitment drive and Tinks just loves getting his passport out); a busy treatment room (ffs Ruby not again!), and a tactical tap out due to Xmas Party shenanigans (to remain nameless) meant that we were grateful to Gerbil and Sherlock for answering the call to bolster the squad. It was great to welcome Racky back into the team after injuring his foot in September. The hot 3pm kickoff and both sets of players recovering from the 3am England game, meant it was a slowish start to the first half. 1TM finally gained some composure in the final third and a nice link up between Salvo and Flat White saw the latter drive into the box and his pull back was met by Sherlock who finished first time off the post. 1TM continued to be a threat thanks largely to the energy of Duplo, who arguably put in his best performance of the season, regaining the ball high up the pitch. We were rewarded by our good play on 35 minutes after Duplo played the ball inside to Sherlock and he unleashed a cracker from just inside the box. Great finish for 2-0. Hotspurs rallied and began to apply more pressure but we were looking solid without the ball and went into halftime with a good lead. Hotspurs continued to play good football and were the better side after halftime. Thanks to some great defending from Frando, Didge, Rat Rig and Racky we managed to maintain the score line. The boys in orange got a goal back after a free kick cannoned off the post and a Hotspurs player had an easy tap in from the follow up. 1TM quickly regained composure and our 2 goal cushion after good work on the right from Gerbil. He pulled the ball back to Salvo who finished well. The icing on the cake came when MOM Moriarty played a nice through ball for Duplo to sprint onto and the former Hotspurs striker finished cooly. FT 4-1 Thanks to Hotspurs for another competitive game; the officials for their good work and Ruby for managing the team.
