Felt like a loss

I am 1% French, my youngest son is 2% French and my older, softer more emotional son is 10% French, so I wasn’t sure if this game was a conflict of interests for me. I tried to put my love for everything French to one side and concentrate on the game. The game started very competitively with both teams working hard to close down the space. SCC were creating numerous chances in the opening stages. They finally got their just rewards when Rossco delivered a great box into the box for Duric to power a header home. SCC were on top in the game but couldn’t quite manage to make it 2-0. 1-0 at half time and the talk was about being more patient with possession, and hopefully get the second goal that we deserved. The second half continued as the first stopped. SCC continuing to create numerous opportunities but the French were still very much in the game. Having good possession at times without causing any real danger to Smollet in the SCC goal. The French then made it 1-1 when SCC got caught in possession for the French MD to curl a lovely left foot shot into the top corner. SCC were soon back in front when Rossco causing problems all day to the French cut the ball back to Dom who finished in the bottom corner to make it 2-1. SCC had a few more great chances to finish the game off but couldn’t find the back of the net. The French were getting more players forward to try and force the equalizer. The equalizer was then found when the ball came in from the right to Hutcheon who either smashed the ball in the top corner or hit the ball off the French strikers leg and in. I hope it was the former. 2-2 was the final score but a game we could of won considering th chances we had. A very competitive game with both teams working hard for 90mins

Encouraging result !

OG has been through a really tough season start and we certainly were hopping to figure higher in the ranking. This game against SCC gave us good hope for the next fixtures. Few player missing but still a strong team and coach Simon headed for some strategic changes especially in the middle to create more. Game was quite even in 1st half with both team creating the same amount of chances. Our defense was solid, our midfield created good moves and we got several opportunities who deserved much better result but lack of precision in the last touches failed us. SCC was unfortunate not to take the lead around the water break mark when hitting the cross bar from good move. Eventually SCC broke the lock thanks to Alex from a corner. 1-0 half time. Disappointing result that could have good either way at this stage. Second half was a real battle. SCC was much more controlling the game and OG was getting tired. Eventually following a few minutes pressuring high, we got the ball back in the last 30m of SCC's half, quickly found Sam at the entrance of the box that back passed for Matt who curved a wonderful one touch strike into the opposite top corner. After that we just tried to contain most attacking waves from SCC. Unfortunately SCC took again the lead when finding their striker alone in the box due to a misalignment from our defense covering the offside. He made no mistake to give them again the lead. They had several opportunities to kill the game but our strong young keeper and fighting spirit (and a bit of luck) enabled us to stay alive. On one of our few counter attacks Steve managed to score the equaliser after good move with Remi and Philippe upfront. Overall a solid performance from OG in regards of previous ones. The bench did their part today by helping the team in second half. A great afternoon in Dempsey, good spirited game from both side. We hope that this game will put us back on track for the following ones. MoM math for great performance coupled with nice goal. MoM SCC shall be Hutch who was really impressive as defender. And we love him there instead of scoring goals against us :) Good game from the ref despite high tension game.
