A good opportunity to get some game time in before we meet Casuals in the Cosmo Cup Quarter Final. SFC were awarded a very soft penalty half way through the first half that was well converted. Then a decent Shotton strike, followed by some poor defending from a corner left Latini 3-0 down at the break. We showed some character in the second half and managed to score two good goals on the counter through Duplo and the returning Ethan Pizano. In between those goals SFC squeezed in a daisy chopper of a free kick from close range and were awarded a penalty that was not converted and ended up in row Z. A strong debut performance from Hendo secures him our MOM. Busy and tenacious in the middle of the park, welcome to the club mate!
Singapore Football Club secured another comfortable three points, under the lights of Centaurs, on Friday night. Lining up against a resilient 1TM Latini team, the Sashmen put down a dominant first-half display with the scoreline reading 4-0 after 45 minutes. Man of the moment Ivor Teagle, still red hot from his recent man of the match performance against Aioli Purple Monkeys, was once again pulling the strings in the middle of the park. He was ably assisted by the assured pairing of DJ Dashnyam and Tim Walter, who helped control the midfield. Upfront the deadly duo of Ross Plain and Liam Shotton delivered the actual goals, with each hitman securing two goals each, before halftime. In the second half, following a raft of changes, SFC failed to find the same attacking verve that they’d enjoyed in the first half. Meanwhile, at the back an air of complacency also set in. That combined with an uncharacteristic error, eventually saw Latini score a goal to make it 4-1. Shortly afterward, with a chance to make it 5-1 and secure himself the match ball, Liam struck his penalty high and wide into the Singapore night safari a few miles north. As you were. With ten minutes to go, SFC should have extended their lead by 2 more goals but sloppy finishing meant they didn't convert. Instead, 1TM Latini pulled a second goal back to make it 4-2. Final Score: 4-2. A good first-half performance to put the game to bed, in the second half SFC could and should have been more clinical. Thanks to Latini for a good contest. We wish you all the best for the remainder of the season – as and when that might happen… Man of the Match: Ivor Teagle
