After a tough game against the Cosmo League leaders, the boys bounced back with a comfortable win against Hollandse FC. Despite 13 absentees due to suspension, injury and travel, we were able to piece together a squad who took the opportunity to lay claim for a place in our squad for the forthcoming match against Hibernians, Tactically we set up a more offensive line-up and took the game to them from the opening whistle. I'm not going to run through each goal as my memory is not what it used to be, however, i will make a few special mentions. Firstly Brett Bowman scored a hat-trick and was, my 'man-of-the-match' after an all round performance which demonstrated his value to the squad. Secondly Conor King, who scored a a brace and arguably could have scored more. Darragh Frost and JB created a hat-full of chances by bringing width to the team and finally Scott Hooper who controlled the midfield for the entire match. The defense were solid and had a reasonably comfortable evening, however, against better opponents they would need to keep their discipline and shape. For Hollandse FC, i would say your commitment and team spirit, should be applauded as many lesser teams would have given up. It's never easy coming under fire for 90 minutes, but you stuck to it. Now it's about preparing for our next league match and looking to consolidate our position in the top half of the table.
