Once again it was another tight battle between SCC and the Lions. The Lions were looking to continue their good run since Jan. With both teams missing a number of players it was a chance for the Lions to gain 3 points. Unfortunately, it was a night of missed chances for both teams with the points being shared, which put another dent in SCC's title defence. Thanks to SCC for a good game and all the best for the remaining fixtures.
SCC turned up for the game missing 10 first team regulars. No need to create a fuss, just turn up and do our best to put on a performance. Maybe it was the fact it was a Friday night game or the rushed team talk but the first 10mins were probably the worst 10mins in SCC's history. The fact the manager wanted to sub all 11 players said enough. After that initial phase the football did improve. In periods SCC played controlled football with quality. Young Ivor showing great touches in the middle of the park and Jack recovering from a trip to HK to show great energy up and down the flank. Both halves were similar. Both teams had periods where they created chances they would have expected to score. Both keepers made some very good saves and even both teams had last ditch clearances off the line. There were some very strange refereeing decisions but nothing that had a major impact on the game. A red card for John with 20mins remaining mean SCC had to dig deep with the effort and energy levels. With this result it has pretty much put the final nail in the coffin to the SCC's chances of winning the league which looks all but assured for the TGA Rangers. The best and most consistent team ALWAYS wins the league so that means TGA Rangers would be worthy winners. For SCC, we know the answers.....step up at training, step up in games and give more.
