Good GSAS performance not rewarded

Last match of the season at Dempsey vs SCC. Despite missing a couple of key players GSAS was still able to squad a very decent team. GSAS started off well for the first 5 min in which a cross from the right side was blocked first by the SCC defenders body from where the ball bounced to his arm, for which a penalty can but not necessarily has to be given (different than in situation in second half). Decision no penalty. After that SCC had more possession in first half and scored twice through strong individual performances (even though second goal was clearly offside). Keeper Des who had saved every shot from distance as well as 1:1s without any problems was chanceless. Halftime score 2:0 SCC. GSAS came back on the pitch clearly determined to not let themselves down but to finish off the season with at least one point. Throwing in everything we had, starting from our Singaporean German Wall Desmond over our defense (Flo and Marc, fantastic job) and midfield engines Dee and Jan to Bjoern and Benny upfront we were rewarded with the deserved 2:1 after Quirin won the duel vs the SCC defender on the right side to bring in the ball to Benny who converted by head. GSAS continued pressing and should have been given the aforementioned penalty which was as much of a clear hand as it can be. For ref Alex might have been a bit difficult to see, but the side ref (who also didn't see the offside at second SCC goal) should have raised the flag. Anyway, no penalty... GSAS kept pressing and were forced to open up risking some SCC counter attacks which were all saved by Des but no more goals on neither side. Final score 2:1. Man of the Match Desmond, who show the best performance sending a signal to the coaches for next season to challenge keeper #1 Joe. Thanks to SCC for an overall fair match and good luck to the new team SFC for next season!
