Progressing to the next round

Cup game against virtual the first of the league. The team was here to make a big statement and to take a small revenge from last year 's semi final against a team we seems to always perform. A few missing players as always but a very solid starting eleven with a few changes. Juanjo moving up in def Midfield alongside Bertrand, and the white Pogba (Philippe) settling at the back for is 1 week return to SG. OG outplayed Rangers for the first 30min and logically took the lead thanks to another brilliant goal from Kike who managed to tip the ball over the keeper from just outside the box. 1-0. The second goal came soon after from a Kike's free kick smartly played just over the wall, Remi hidden behind it received the ball and did a strong lower cross that went straight into Hugo's feet who just had to push it in. OG was unlucky not to take a larger lead with a few nice chances, especially one from Hugo which hit the post. Then the lighting came into play and gave both team a 10min break which OG had difficulties to recover from. Sharples converted a short domination with a strong shot that Keion could only deflect into the inside of the net. 2-1. OG manage to wake up a recover a 2 goals leads thanks to Hugo again who converted his 1vs1. Second half was a bit more even, with Rangers holding the ball for most of it and OG holding its ground and reducing the space between our lines. We played lower but managed to create numerous chances in counter attack with first Juanjo giving OG a 3 goals leads. 4-1. Rangers came back to 4-2 after Sharples was brought down into the box and converted himself the penalty. 4-2. Then Remi converted a brillant long ball over the defense from Kike to make it 5-2. With 15min to go the Rangers defender got a second booking for blocking Remi as a last defender, and things were at this point looking bright for us. 11vs 10 and 5-2. With 10min to go we brought in our ultimate weapon upfront; Chris, who nicely converted a cross from Kike. 6-2. Ultimately Rangers go on back at the end of the game when Pogba was a bit too playful at the back and lost the ball. Rangers striker manage to release a good strike that Keion could only deflect into Sharples feet to make it too easy for him to complete his hat trick. 6-3. Overall a very good performance from OG, who managed to secure a good lead in the first half, and then controlled the peace of the second one to progress to the next stage of the Cup. MOM OG: The white Pogba (Philippe Guerrand). But Kike (as always), hugo (on fire) and Chris (for scoring a goal) were all good contenders. MOM Rangers: Sharples. Managed to score a hat trick with really little chances in 90min. But our love for Hiro is unconditional...

Report

Sharples hat trick in vain as OG comfortably go through

The French report pretty much covered all of their activity so we will focus on ours instead... We started the game with a new strikeforce of Sharples and Barrett. Untried and untested before due to squad shortages but turned out to be a combination with much promise. After OG went 2-0 up we managed to get some momentum back with Sharpy scoring after a neat turn and run after exchanging with Sammy B (it's on Instagram if you want to see it @sharples_9 along with every other goal he's scored this season). Unfortunately straight after a stray pass from the right went clinically punished to make it 3-1 at half time. After having a good chat at half time about minimising mistakes and getting the first goal, another poor defensive mistake allowed Remi to make it 4-1. Marcus was then upended in the box by Bastos to give us a lifeline once more which Sharpy cooly tucked away for 4-2. Then came the JB show, after being booked for a cynical block in the first half he decided to make it 2/2 and get sent off leaving us with 10 for the last 25 minutes or so. OG then scored a couple more before Victor chased down Phillipe for Nate to strike from outside the box, the keeper saved well but pushed in Sharples path for his third. Final score 6-3, very entertaining but if we're going to have any chance of winning the league we will need to cut out the mistakes. MOM for OG: Remi (I love you, from Hiro) MOM for Ranger: Sammy B for his first game in many months Well refereed by Brad, thanks for turning up on time ;)
