10 Men, No Worries.

The Casuals turned up to a game against the Germans on Friday night full of confidence based on the teams recent form. Only a few issues, injuries, guys travelling and 10 guys being available at kick off the early 8pm kick off. The gaffer missed the opportunity for his usual inspiring team talk but also forgot to tell the squad which position everyone was meant to be playing in. Brimblemywomblecomb turned up at kick off and was on after 5 mins, back up to 11 men. Casuals started bright, with Doug Wills coming in at right midfield and putting in a couple of dangerous crosses. Casuals had a few chances but the strikers failed to capitalize on the chances created. Dyno and Dunne doing well battling in the centre of the park and distributing play. Down to 10 men for the 2nd time. Kaz pulled a hammy and had to come off. Fraze who wasn’t meant to be playing after injuring his ankle doing noble charity work in Nevada a couple of months ago, taped up his ankle, put on his boots and shinnys and took to the pitch in at his usual centre back position. Stultzy begin to rile the Germans up with a couple of challenges, the next strong tackle (winning the ball) sent both teams into dispute. It took both sides about 10mins to calm down before Casuals went down to 10 men again. Gregory tweaked as muscle around the 40min mark and hobbled off the park. To everyones surprise he wandered back on, got in the way of a few passes, limped up front to then find the ball bouncing infront of him from 25 yards out. BOOOM! Left foot volley into the top corner ripping the rest of his groin/thigh into pieces. The Casuals boys laughed and cheered, Greg cried and the referee blew for HT. Young Seb turned up for his Casuals debut and slotted in right midfield. Composed and confident on the ball he looks like a very good player. Cracking debut working hard on the right hand side of midfield. 70mins. Germans corner, flick on onto backheel and hand ball from Wags on the line. Straight Red. Pen, 1-1. 10 men once again. 75mins Nick who worked tirelessly up front missed a ‘few chances’ and was unlucky on the day decided to start passing and set Dyno up for the winner. Casuals finished the game off nervously giving the ball away cheaply but the Germans could not capitalize. All round good performance by the men in red considering the injuries and the hand of wags. It should have been more but the German keeper had a very good game. MOM Casuals Old Doug for rolling back the years and having a very good game at right back and right midfield. MOM Germans the Goalkeeper. Special mention to Nick Verrill who won Players Player of the Year and Sanders who won Young Player of the Year at the end of season party on Saturday night. Greg spewed and had to be put in a taxi. Nippon on Friday final game of the Season.

Youngster spirit not enough

GAS has fielded an inexperienced side with many regular players missing. The game started with Casuals having the possession and creating chance after chance. Thanks to some good saves from Desmond and some luck the scoreline remain 0-0 for most of the first half. GAS has created only one chance in the meantime with keeper palming away Lucas' effort. Casuals then broke the scoreline with a beautiful volley from outside the box giving our keeper no chance. In the second half GAS players started to tick using the youngsters on both wings. After some good play from Lucas and Ralph, GAS earned the corner. Micha delivered trademark near post cross for on rushing Flo whose headed effort was blocked. The resultant loose ball fell to Julie for a tap in, denied only by defenders hand. Micha converted the penalty. Both teams had chances in the second half with Casuals showing more desire and getting the second goal later in the second half. We thank Casual for good game of football.
