Daylight Robbery

Determined to have a positive reaction from last week’s defeat we started the game brightly. On 5 minutes after a flowing move Rory rounded the on rushing keeper Dessie and was about to pull the trigger to score in to an unguarded net for a simple finish. However, Rory was fouled by the last GAS defender and a red card was inevitable. The linesman and referee discussed and decided a yellow card was sufficient. Unbelievable decision. We have the incident on VAR courtesy of Rory’s parents and have reviewed. The VAR clearly shows the GAS defender as the last man. Pet Shop’s free kick hit the wall and went out for a corner, soon after we were two goals down. GAS scored from a mix up in defence with Cornish Basti firing home, Michael Klemm doubled the lead after we lost possession and we missed clearing the ball over the top. Klemm hit the woodwork twice and GAS could have been out of sight but we rode our luck. Pet Shop narrowed the deficit, scoring the rebound from his own saved penalty. Halt time 1-2. The effort and commitment was good enough, but our quality was lacking which was the focus of our half time team talk. Our 2nd half was a marginal improvement, at least we cut out the mistakes. LTG equalised on 70 minutes with a great strike from the edge of the box, which Dessie saw late. There was more excitement to come in the final minutes. GAS thought they had won the game from a free kick, but their header was ruled out for a foul. Tommy for Latini hit a long ball to Leo, the ball was kicked high by the GAS defender and towards their own goal. Our fox in the box Rory sniffed the opportunity and beat Dessie to the ball 6 yards out to clinch an underserved victory 3-2. We have played much better and lost, but we will accept the 3 points to arrest our recent dip in form. It was a good comeback from two goals down but still a lot of room for improvement. Thanks and apologies to GAS for the last minute victory, a draw may have been a fairer result for both teams. We have a three week rest and wish POB all the best on his Stag weekend, the lads will need the extra weeks to recover. Missed opportunity

GAS started the match against Latini on the back of 2 consecutive victories, which would have given GAS sufficient confidence to kick off highly motivated. And indeed, GAS, despite having only 1 sub on the bench, early on created chances and pushed forward. And it did not take very long until Dee muscled his way through Latini defence but got blocked off in the penalty area where Basti Wolff conveniently lashed home from short distance. Latini with some sleek passing had a few chances but never really threatened the German goalkeeper, also thanks to some solid German defensive work. The GAS midfield took control of the midfield and continued to feed GAS strikers with some nice passes until a tremendous 40m pass from Arnoud was neatly executed through Michael and put into the right bottom corner. A few other chances including 2 shots from Michael hitting the post and crossbar did not succeed in extending the GAS lead. Latini used some confusion in the German defence and closed the gap to 1:2 before half-time. The second half saw Latini more aggressive and having more possession in midfield. After GAS playmaker Basti Keller left the field injured early on in the second half, GAS did little to pressure Latini for most part of the second half. Latini eventually scored to draw after around 70min. Despite GAS creating some excellent counter attacks, the German team failed to score on 3 occasions. Latini were not satisfied with a draw and utilized a grave defensive error of a GAS defender to drive home the victory after 88min. Thanks Latini for a good match
