A game of two halves

The mood in the Swiss camp was good going into this game against OG. The most recent outing against Hotspurs was promising, and only the weather Gods could stop us from getting our first point(s). The coach continued with the 4-4-2 which worked so well last time out. However, the first 20 minutes were totally embarrassing. Defensively pathetic, and offensively absent. We gifted OG three easy goals, including a straight back pass to the OG striker who must have wondered why he gets better service from his opponent than from his own team mates. The other goals were following a sloppily taken throw in, and 5 seconds later the ball is in the back of the net, and the third was a penalty given away needlessly. So by the time of the drinks break the contest was pretty much over. Credit though to OG who played very well. Everybody was in motion and asked for the ball. Quick passing and clinical finishing did the trick. Another goal before the break and the half time talk was pretty loud in the Swiss camp. The coach appealed to the pride of the players to turn things around in the second half. And the second half was indeed much improved. Sebastian came on and he was full of running. It was his clever pass which allowed Mostafa to score his first goal for the team. He added another one, when he slalomed through the defenders for a neat finish. For full disclosure, OG scored another two in the second half for a 6:2 scoreline. The story repeats itself: we give away really cheap goals and usually find ourselves trailing early in the game. When we get our act together, it's often too late. Unfortunately, this led to some frustration for a couple of players, but again in the second half with more composure we did much better. The referee had everything under control, perhaps with the only exception when he failed to award a penalty when Nicolas de Mello was brought down in the box. But to be honest, even though it would have made it 3:1 at that point, I doubt it would have changed the outcome of the game. We are very happy to get our pitch at the Swiss Club back this week. A brandnew astro turf will hopefully help us to bounce back and give Latini a good fight next week!

Solid and serious performance

A solid and clean performance from OG after a disappointing result vs Casuals. We started the game focused and serious which quickly paid off. Nordine brillantly finished a nice cross from Hugo to open the score line before Hugo double the lead after a lost ball from Swiss defense. Before the half hour mark, Iss score a 3rd one from the penalty stop to give us a confortable lead at HT. Second half was a bit more open, with Swiss getting a bit more into the game but a 4th goal from Remi early in the 2nd half from another assist from Hugo killed the game. Swiss fought back and scored 2 goals as OG did the same to conclude the game on a 6-2 scoreline. Well done to OG for taking this game seriously and thanks to the Swiss for the game. Some young quality in the team and I am sure they will manage to get a point sooner or later. MOM OG: Hugo, for a nice goal and 3 assists. MOM Swiss: The young guy upfront who came in to score the first goal.
