ANOTHER FRIDAY EVENING GAME WAS WELCOMING VIKINGS AND OPPONENTS FROM HOTSPURS. MOST WERE EXITED ABOUT THIS CLASH AGAINST PREVIOUS YEARS FAVORIT OPPOSITION, WHILE OTHER HAD BEEN GETTING TICK MUCH CAUGH MEDICINE THE PREVIOUS DAYS AND THEREFORE FELT MORE LIKE CONTINUING OR BUY SOME ROPE FROM NEAREST HARDWARESHOP. ANYHOW VIKINGS HAD A GOOD 14 MAN SQUAD WHICH WOULD PROVE TO BE ESSENTIAL FOR THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME. VIKINGS STRATED OUT WELL READING HOTSPURS RECIPE WITH LONG BALLS TO NICK FOR HIS FLICK ONS TO TINY WHO HAS SOME PACE. VIKING DEFENCE DID WELL THOUGH THROUGH OUT THE GAME TO CONTROL THIS WHILE CENTER MIDFIELD DID WELL ANNOYING THE CRAP OUT OF JD WITH CONTANT PRESSURE. FURTHER MORE VIKINGS ACTUALLY HAD MORE THAN 5 CONSEC PASSESS THIS EVENING AND ACTUALLY PLAYED SOME OF THE BEST FOOTBALL SHOWN THIS HALF SEASON. VIKINGS TOOK THE LEAD AFTER SOME 20 MIN, THEY THOUGHT AT LEAST, WHEN HOTAN NEATLY FOUND MINI MOELLER AT BACK POST, BUT NIELSEN WAS FOUND TO BE OFF SIDE AND ALEX THOUGHT HE HAD INFLUENCED THE GAME. HARD TO SEE FOR LINESMAN AND VIKINGS BUT HOTSPURS AGREED TO ALEX DECISION AND THE SCORE WAS STILL EQUAL – BART HAD A GOOD SAFE TOP CORNER AT SOME POINT BUT THINK THAT WAS MORE OR LESS WHAT HOTSPURS HAD OF SHOTS ON TARGET IN 1ST HALF. “DRAGEN” WOULD ONCE AGAIN PLAY A LEADING ROLE WHEN VIKINGS TOOK THE LEAD. WITH SOME PLAY IN THE BOX AFTER A CORNER HE MANAGED TO COLLECT THE BALL IN FRONT OF GOAL AND NICELY PLAY IT BACK TO LASSE WHO MADE NO MISTAKE AND PUT THE VIKINGS UP 1-0. VIKINGS CONTINUED HEREAFTER TO DOMINATE THE GAMEAND MANY PLAYERS REALLY DID WELL ON THE NIGHT. JONAS CAME ON FOR DRAGEN AFTER 40 MINUTES PLAYED AND HE WOULD DRIBLE HIMSELF INTO A PENALTY KICK THAT HOTAN EXECUTED. WELL DON’T TO THEM AS WELL. IT DID SHOW WE HAD A STRONG SQUAD WHEN THE 3 GUYS WHO STARTED OUT ARE NORM IN THE STARTING 11. JESPER PULLED A RED CARD ON QUITE A SHOCKER TACKLE FROM SPURS LEFT WING, BUT QUITE SURE HE HAD PLANS FOR NEXT WEEK AS ALEX DIDN’T HAVE ANY DOUBT ABOUT THE COLOR OF THE FOLLOWING CARD. LASSE WON MOM WELL DESERVED WITH 13 VOTES – WITH A BIT OF LUCK HE COULD HAVE SCORED A SECOND ON THE DAY AFTER BEAUTIFULL PLAY BUT THE CROSSBAR DENIED HIM THAT SUCCESS. END RESULT 2-0 VIKINGS AND WELL DONE TO THE LADS – THANKS TO REF TEAM AND IN PARTICUALR TO HOTSPURS FOR A FAIR GAME PLAYED IN GOOD SPIRIT AS ALWAYS EXCEPT FOR A SMALL BRAIN FREEZE, WHICH CAN HAPPEN TO ALL OR AT LEAST MOST OF US.
It was a disappointing defeat for Hotspurs on Friday night against a solid Vikings side. Hotspurs kept the ball well in patches, and were unfortunate to be 1-0 down at half time to a scrappy goal, after a first half which hadn't seen many chances for either side. It certainly didn't help when James Keane was shown a straight red card for a challenge early in the second half, but Hotspurs still pressed on spiritedly for the equaliser. The rub of the green continued to go against HFC though, and Vikings were awarded (and converted) an extremely soft penalty late on- shortly after the Turf City floodlights decided to turn themselves off for 15 minutes. A disappointing result, but plenty to be happy about going into February.
