Vikings wanted to turn things around after a below par performance against HIBs last Friday and were hoping and gunning for 3 points against Latini. Team talk from Coaches Lars and Brian were good and we were fired up and ready. Townsend brothers were our main concern, with their good looks, speed, technique and Luke's hairband we had to make sure we pressured them everytime they got the ball. Unfortunately we weren't as ready as we thought. 10 seconds into the game Latini have a throw in from the right hand side, strong arm from the throw in taker - expecting many lonely weekend nights in front of some slightly naughty websites has given him the strength to throw that far - which wasn't dealt with properly by the Vikings defence and an easy tap in. 1-0 Latini. Both teams had decent possession but not very many chances created. Our Norweign beef cake had a hard time with Latini's towering Central Defender on a corner, first he got booked for pulling his jersey ( before the corner was taken ) then on the repeat corner the Defender got the best of our Norweign and headed home a lovely header. Our Strong Kimchi eating Defender Brian was rewarded with a black eye, as he showed bravery in the box heading a ball while Latini's player tried an overhead kick in the box, only hitting Brians left eye. Brian is on the mend and a few 100 dollars down after a quick visit to the Hospital. Vikings created a few chances here and there but mostly shots outside the box, it didn't seem to be our day. The start of the 2nd half was looking good for the Vikings, Clouds were looking extremely dark and one could have hoped for some heavy rain and thunder so we could have a re-match, but Thor and Odin were not on our side today. An amazing fifa like goal from Latini's Central defender where he takes the ball around one of our players and a top quality 100 miles an hour shot from outside the box left our Keeper with no chance. 3-0 and Vikings had lost their spirit. The match ended 4 - 0, thanks to the refs and Latini for a decent game, sorry for not showing up on the day and hope we give you guys a better fight next game.
A cool 5pm kickoff was exactly what the doctor ordered Saturday as 1TM Latini took on a strong Vikings side that got the better of us no less than 3 times last season. Tally was away so the 3 wise men POB, Cpt Eyebrows and Pet Shop were in the driving seat managerial wise. Quick out the blocks would be an understatement; we took the lead in less than a minute after a long throw from Jonny Lukito AKA ‘TARD’ (The Asian Rory Delap) was flicked on by Ufit Wardrobe #1 Winters and Pep swung his head at the ball with every neck muscle he had. 1-0. It was 2-0 shortly after from yet another set piece; TARD lofted a corner in and Ufit Wardrobe #2 CFD met it with a crushing header which flew into the back of the net. HT 2-0. The 2nd Half was a controlled affair for the majority until Vikings started to commit more men forward in the last 10-15mins in quest of leveling things up. 1TM-Latini held them at bay well and scored 2 late goals to secure the comprehensive victory. CFD notched the 3rd after sidestepping a tackle then sending a rocket in from 30 yards. Lego dispatched the 4th with a composed finish after being set free by his younger sibling. FT 4-0. Cheers to Vikings for the game played in the right manner throughout. Wish a speedy recovery to Brian and hope there is no long term damage to his eye, brave defending from the big man and no intention meant from Pep. A week off next week as some of the squad head to Phuket to try to reclaim the 7s crown. OG up next in a fortnight. Shout out to Pistol Pete Townsend for support. MOM 1TM-Latini – Standout performance from entire 15 man squad, but CFD for 2 cracking goals from Centre Back. MOM Vikings– #11 Young lad in Centre mid, composed player. DOTD – Rory ‘Scoop’ Winters. Kit / Balls – Pet Shop
