You’re getting sacked in the morning…

No not the gaffer! But the stream of Casuals players that say ‘yes’ and don’t turn up and/or provide last minute excuses! Would this happen if we were winning games, very unlikely. Does it show that some members of the Casuals squad don’t have the stomach for a fight, battle through injuries, prioritize helping their mates out…sadly looks that way. We rocked up with I think 12 after having 15 only a few hours before. A couple of committed lads came out to help with Kaz jumping off a plane and heading straight over! GAS are always tough to breakdown so we knew we’d need to be clinical playing with a decent tempo. We did the opposite, we were slow, lethargic and couldn’t get going. Their first goal was from the midfielder who rode way too many challenges before getting a slice of luck with a 1v1 and finished well. Second was the standard Achilles Heel with the old long over the top. After that we did play some good footy and created a number of chances. A change midway through the half didn’t help a great deal with Andy going off injured, not even the copious amount of voltaren could help this time. Even at the half we felt we were in the game, we were dominating and at the back we were comfortable. Second half and 2 of the regulars went off with injuries, that was now Andy, Greg and Fraze all coming off injured and in reality none were fit enough to start. Unfortunately, whilst trying to push for a goal we got caught twice on the break as we ran out of steam and the game finished 4-0 to GAS. Has to be said, and I think most teams have said similar, the GK for GAS has to stop play acting and time wasting, it got to a point that even some of the GAS players on the bench were apologising for it. It’s not in the spirit of the league and quite frankly he has let his team down with his behaviour – didn’t impact the result in the slightest but it does leave a bitter taste to the game! Deserved victory for GAS though, took their chances well and defended in numbers and it’s not a surprise to see that they don’t concede many and we could absolutely learn a lesson or 2 on how to defend as a unit! MOM GAS: Big centre back MOM Casuals: Kaz did well but Dyne worked his socks off and kept showing for the most of the game.

Well-deserved victory

Stunning atmosphere at UWC with the loyal German Allstar hooligans on Friday night. The basement battle started with an early goal by Bastian Wolff who scored on a 1 on 1 situation. Following some nicely executed attacks, GAS was able to add one more thanks to a great assist by Quirin Regensburger to Thomas Suess for the 0:2. After the 0:2, Casuals gained more possession and created some possibly dangerous situations but lacked in creativity for a successful finish. Second half started similar to the first. Casuals tried to close the gap but the German Defence was blocking most of the Kick-and-Rush approaches. Diyas Mailepessov closed the match with an incredible solo run followed by a lucky shot from Lorenz Helde for the 0:4 final result. Overall, a very fair match with lots of sportsmanship on both sides.
