Muscle up to victory.

At 4pm, Dempsey was replicating a scene from Genesis chapters 6-9. Biblically that is, rather than a Phil Collins and crew back catalogue. Although, there was a striking resemblance to good ol’ Phil at the centre of an adjusted SCC back four. Otherwise, a similarly daunting array of quality throughout the starting XI and bench. As the heavens continued to rain down with fury, white water rafting looked more on the cards rather than the beautiful game. Latini, unfazed by the conditions, appeared ready to relish the opportunity. Utilizing their industrial yet effective brand of football to their advantage, anticipating the pitch as the leveler to compete. Credit must go to the Dempsey pitch. Despite a slightly delayed kick off, it drained phenomenally well and it was game on! A scrap was always going to be on the cards however, against a combative Latini side. With both teams adjusting to the tricky conditions, the game started evenly. A bit of sparring early on, quite literally for some of the Latini side who appeared to show more interest in making a mark on SCC, rather than the game. As the game continued, Kike Jr, netted the first, then second, linking well down the right hand side. Midfield and forward line of SCC were dominant but plenty of chances were squandered with little, to no real threat for the SCC backline. HT 2-0. The second half continued in such fashion with SCC creating more chances and other than a lovely lob which hit the bar, there was always only going to be one winner. Latini, growing increasing frustrated, resorted to some crude tackles to say the least, fortunately nobody was hurt seriously. Latini, down to 10 men, Kike Señor won and converted from the spot and 3-0 SCC. In the end, Latini needed a little more than help from above to take the 3 points but will be up there at the end of the season, no doubt. MOM Latini – Duplo MOM SCC – Kike jr

Blood Bath...

'Mud' Blood Bath… In the heart of the jungle the brutality of Singapore’s thunderous weather struck down upon Dempsey field. Speculation over armbands, rubber rings and which studs would be suitable was amongst the group as the rain continued to fall. Although we were left changing in the puddles, 1TM Latini’s hopes were not dampened. An away fixture against the Champions was always going to be a big game and a big challenge. With tensions high and dropped points against ze Germans we were hungry for a comeback and who better than to do it against the SCC. Play the conditions and don’t let the conditions play us. We would have liked to have been able to play more football, but with the mud we were inevitably in for a tasty game where weighted passes over the defence was the order for the day. The first few minutes started slow for both teams and SCC were beginning to gain composure and started knocking the ball around nicely but 1TM Latini’s shape kept them at bay. A few chances came for SCC but nothing troubled Gigantic in goal. A few fast counters and 1TM Latini found the areas to expose SCC. If there was any weakness in this team it was at the back and we were trying to exploit this. A couple of chances created by Beats who was a menace on the right hand side not quite converted. Duplo unable to steer one of them home at the far post. This proved to be very costly as SCC linked up well straight afterwards down the right to create an opportunity which was struck well into the far post by Kike. Gigantic got a hand to it but it wasn’t enough to keep it out. 1-0. This became 2 v 0 just before half time as the right back for SCC linked up again well with Kike. 1TM Latini felt confident there was something in the game to take, hence the next goal was critical. We set off strong in the second half and enjoyed more possession but struggled to create any clear cut chances. Beats almost pulled one back with a nice volley outside the box (we are owed a goal of the season contender) but it brushed by the post. Rory A also hit the bar having come on at HT. A couple of breaks on the counter as SCC pushed for the third but 1TM Latini couldn’t quite find the goal required to change the direction of the game. POB at the other end also made a couple of great saves to keep the game alive. The Second half saw more yellows, tackles flying in and both teams putting everything on the line for this one. It was a great battle and given the conditions it was not surprising. Unfortunately 1TM Latini were down to 10 men which meant that a comeback was coming to be a tall order. Despite the never say die attitude from the players a 3rd goal courtesy of the penalty killed the game off in favour of SCC. SCC deserved the 3 points having created more clear cut chances and their winger made no mistakes in finding the net twice. Their right full back had a great game but for the two goals the big Summer signing from Gaelic Lions gets MOTM for SCC. Best of luck to SCC for the rest of the season. POB gets the nod for 1TM Latini MOTM with a great performance (even tally voted for him) but special mention to Dazza who had another fantastic game and some comedy bants A weeks break for Latini, big push at TNL and then roll on the cup. Thanks to Nick, Yak and Mooney for coming down to support. Kit: - POB ('brownie' points)
