Heart break in extra time, down to 10 men, finally losing out. Will write a more detailed report shortly.
Rangers provided a stubborn test in a tightly contested cup final requiring extra time to separate the teams. SCC started well, hitting the post and forcing a couple of good saves in the first 20 minutes. The game became open and scrappy with chances at both ends. Neither team capitalsied and the half ended 0-0. SCC had a little more of the ball in the second half but failed to convert possession to quality chances as the Rangers defence held firm. Rangers had a player sent of late in the second half. During extra time, SCC put their man advantage and strength off the bench to good use dominating possession. But it wasn't until the 105th minute when the deadlock was broken by an Owen Monaghan sidefoot volley in a crowded box. Rangers energy levels dipped and Jamie Mowle made it 2-0 to SCC with a composed finish late in the game. Thanks Rangers for pushing us all the way. Credit to the SCC players for adding the Cosmo Cup title to the Cosmo league title secured several weeks ago. (A week later, SCC would go on to secure the treble with a victory in the SCC Singapore 6s)
