After the original fixture ended 2-0 but with lights at UWC letting the teams down with 7 to go it was a replay and in despite of Bimse, Dubsky, Lasse and US out of action, Vikings had a strong 11 and started dictating the game from the start. Tommie playing superbly as stand in centre back came close of an Domino corner, Kejser Karl should have scored from Jesper cross, but instead it was a brilliant individual move from Jesper that saw the opener on around the 25th minute after hitting the ball from the edge of the box via the post. After this it was 75% possession from Vikings for the rest of the first half with Casuals showing a bit of life on counter attacks. 1-0 half time and Viking looking confident. Early second half Leslie me off with his injury not 100% and on came Rick in his last performance before heading back to study in Holland. Thank for helping out and hope to see you back Rick. While the team was settling in - Panda, playing left fullback carried the ball forward and with no easy pass he decided to have a go and from 30m Panda hit TOP corner and 2-0 Vikings. Domino also wanted part of the action and From 25m out he hit a sweet freekick, before Jonas completed a compilation of amazing goalscorer after combining with Laurenborg down the left. In the end Vikings took the 3 points we felt we deserved 6 weeks back. CHampions SCC next week and a Plate final in 3 weeks left for what has been a good season for the vikings ! Thanks to Casuals and refs for a good game ! MJ
With the humble scribe brushing up on his Churchill - oooooh yes - it was down to the inarticulate gaffer to write his first and last report of the season. Imaginatively dubbed #thereplay, it wasn't really. It didn't take place at the same venue or even at the same time. Despite it being in every national governing body's policies and rules that a replay should take place at the same venue. Apparently it's not in the Cosmoleague rules. Weird. The shambles that took place in rearranging the game hardly fitted in with the so-called spirit of the league. Especially when verbal sticks and stones are thrown in public group chats. Which is a shame when there are so many other great teams in this league who conduct themselves brilliantly and really do fly the Cosmoleague flag. Back to the game, the difference was Jonas today. Class lad on and off the pitch, that Casuals education he got last year really coming to the fore. Without him playing this game had a boring 0-0 written all over it. He's that much better than the rest. For Casuals, glad to see the back of the season. Although sad to say bye to Harry after 4 seasons and Jake after 2 seasons. Start a fresh next season.
