Lions started this game with a few KEY people missing or injured – the result, we won. Nippon started the game at a high pace and looked dangerous; however a determined Lions team matched them for their efforts. A make shift central back two of Ryan and Lloydolodoly did well to keep Nippon’s attacking players at bay while our own attacking force were troubling the Nippon defence and after 20 minutes we were 1 nil up thanks to Conor, I can’t remember much of the goal as the cider was already taking its toll. 5 mins later Nippon had pulled one back due to a sleepy Lions defence after a corner. O’Reilly played well in the first half, but you will not see him mentioned in the second. Half time came and not much needed to be said, tighten up the defence a little and continue to press Nippon’s defence. The second half again started with a high tempo and I honestly don’t remember much more as I now had cracked open my second cider. Brett, 40 yards over, Bowman made it 2-1 with an excellent finish top corner from 6 yards out, while Conor did all the hard work and bagged his hat-trick with 2 clinically finished goals. Petsey continued running rampant down the left and Kike was looking magnificent with his perfect hair in the middle of the park, as his 2 amazing girlfriends watched on. Lloydolodoly fell over towards the end but we had no subs left so he continued for the last 10 mins. Game over, thanks to Nippon for the game. MOM – Conor McHugh MOM Nippon - tall center mid no. 23
