Just not there

Friday Night Lights is usually something Vikings always look forward to. Support on the sideline and beers after the game. Unfortunately the Vikings just wasn't there when the game started. Rangers started with possesion in the game and looked like they wanted it more. Pretty even the first 15 min with chances in both ends. Leslie had a great chance when he sprinted from the defenders and had a great finish, but unfortunately the post was in the way. Still 0-0. After a ball loss on the midfield Rangers countered and a cross resulted in a heel goal by the Rangers striker. Not long after that the linesman saw the ball out and waved his flag even though it was clearly in, very poor judgement. Vikings continue to complain about the verdict and forgot to keep focus and Rangers were quick to score their second goal, 2-0. And it didn't stop there. Vikings just couldn't get into the game and was running behind the Rangers. 3-0 before the half and things weren't looking for the Vikings. Second half started, but Vikings still missing some spark. Look like we were getting better and had more possesion, but a penalty for Rangers resulted in 4-0. Vikings decided to use our subs as we might as well. The changes meant fresh legs and we got going a bit more. Vikings created more chances and finally scored a goal, 4-1 and Vikings kept pushing. 5 min before the final whistle Vikings had their second goal 4-2 and we even had big chances before that with a bit more focus it could have been 4-4. An overall poor performance from the Vikings, we are better than that. Looking to turn things around this coming Saturday. Thanks to the Rangers for fair-ish game and thanks to the refs.

Mo Money Mo Problems

So here it was another Friday night session at the almighty turf city. With a world record 36 players bailing in one week we scraped together a solid starting line-up with the untried, untested at cosmo level, Mohit Maheshwari on the bench, He didnt bring any problems with him. We started pretty well actually, as we did earlier in the season against Vikings, racing into a 3-0 first half lead mainly down to the Ginger 'Italian' Wizard. His first came after an interception in midfield, paddy crossed for Salvo to backheel sweetly home. More importantly, Mo had arrived by now and took his place on the bench, all the players breathed a huge sigh of relief, he just had to find a shirt that fit. Two more goals came soon after with Whitlad pinpoint crossing onto the main mans head for no.2 and the hat trick followed soon after when he picked up the ball and ran at the defence Gazza-esque, leaving a defender in his wake and smashing home. HT 3-0. All the chat at half time was about staying solid and getting through the next 15 minutes unscathed. Don't think anyone was listening to the gaffer everyone was too excited about Mo coming onto the pitch. They had to stay patient. The lads did as they were asked and even managed to get a peno for Jacko's unbelievable dive. Some were saying swan lake but we thought it was more free willy. Nate scored to make it 4-0. After 60 minutes it was the time, the moment, for Mo to shine. After a standing ovation from the packed crowd he kissed the ground, then his fingers and looked up to the sky to say a little word to Kev Slack who was in Bintan for the weekend. The diminutive figure strode onto the pitch effortlessly, some have likened him to a grown up ewok but thats too kind on the ewok. Vikings were threatening at times, especially the winger who was really unfortunate to smash the bar with a cracking run and strike in the second half, but were a little under par as per their own admission. Two late goals got them back in the game but it was too little too late. FT:4-2 and onto Hotspurs we go! MOM for Rangers was obviously Mr Hat trick Hero MOM for Vikings goes to the winger, quality player
