Convincing Vikigns back to winning ways !

After a couple of poor results in the last few weeks it was a Vikings team ready for 3 points that stepped up to meet the German All Stars on Saturday afternoon. With a few a the regular Cosmo players out travelling we called in new support from Tomas and John. The Vikings supporters had fueled up hours in advance and showed great support throughout the game. The Vikings started in a 3-5-2 that we hadn't seen since 2016. With three energy-packed central midfielders (Fredrik, Jonas and Tomas) it proved to be a wise decision to break the German attacks and keep possession of the ball. The Vikings team created the most chances during the first 30 minutes but we're not able to convert any goals. After 30 minutes a loose ball ended up with Leslie to make it 1-0 and soon the half time whistle went. Early second half Nicolai made it 2-0 scored on has debut in the sarting 11 after a great assist from Frederik #youthconnection. The Germans Allstars continued with good fighting spirit and created a few good chances before Leslie made it 3-0 and sealed . Mark R, Karl Martin and John came on to secure the win and created momentum for the Doctor's birthday celebrations later in the evening! The game also presented a father and son duo - with John and Jonas playing together in the second half. Jonas made a great pass to John who was all alone with the keeper but he unfortunately missed. He quickly made up for it with debut beers after the game though :) Thank you to German All Stars, the referees and the supportes for a fair game.

Vikings more agressive

After the latest defeats both teams were eager to get 3 points and started brightly and intensively. Vikings showed possession football with set-play attacks while GAS having offensive 4-4-2 formation with a diamond in the middle focused on a high pressure with quick counter-attacks using long vertical passes up to Andy and Michael. During first third both teams were attacking very well having good chances to score. Great saves by goalkeepers, hard tackles by defenders and struggling a lot in the middle showed how selflessly the teams fought for the win. Fragile balance had been upset and Vikings took the lead after 30 minutes, in lucky circumstances. The goal appeared after a good cross of Leslie Andersen from the left wing and consequent dive into the penalty area with a bounced shot. Second half started in the same way as the first one but GAS were unlucky and got early goal conceded. Leslie Andersen net the brace. Nevertheless GAS were desperately fighting and trying to equalize the score by tormenting Viking’s defense by numerous corners, standards and crosses. GAS attacked massively and had to move up the defense line higher. Vikings adjusted to the situation and score and played more carefully attacking by less numbers and using free space behind the opponent’s defense for the buildup and the attack. On the last minutes Vikings scored third goal after corner kick and being first on the ball after the head pass. Vikings showed solid game extremely well organized and were very difficult to break down. Nice performance from GAS but it was not enough to crack Vikings’ defense. Still have a room to come back to the winning run. Special thanks to Andy for his great game and efforts who is leaving GAS team. Perfect defense penetration and attacking skills. Will be missing Andy so much.
