Latini looked to get their season back on track Sat versus the Germans after the disappointing outing at Causals a week prior. Another big squad and a training session midweek of running around HDB’s put the team in good stead for 3points. 1st Half It’s fair to say the game got off to a sluggish start. Latini struggled to get out of reverse let alone 1st gear. We kept the ball relatively well in our own half but as soon as we entered the Germans half, one of two things seemed to happen: either Bignell decided to whack the ball into the netting by pitch one or JT would clip a nice no look pass over the German defence… to nobody. Something special was going to be needed to open the scoring you felt, or Latini would need a penalty… good job we got the latter. JT surged through the midfield with a couple of German defenders chasing him, playing a couple of one two’s along the way; it was like a scene from Planet earth, a couple of lions chasing a surprisingly quick giraffe…. The Lions eventually caught up with their oddly shaped prey and took him down in the box, Penalty to Latini. Another oddly shaped man stepped up to convert the peno as Raver made it 1-0. Harding then made it 2 nil shortly after; the French-Canadian had appeared to have learnt how to actually play football since last Friday and he cut in from the left and ripped one in the top corner. 2-0. Latini then added further before HT through another penalty. Lego was brought down in the box after the German defender somehow managed to get his arms round Legos rear and dragged him down. Raver stepped up once more to score, coolness personified. HT 3-0. 2nd Half Didn’t see much of the 2nd half as I kept getting distracted by the humdinger on pitch 1, but here's what i saw: Bignell outpaced a German defender… Then had to sub himself off as a result. Duplo got subbed and shook hands with at least 3 german defenders and the referee on the way to the sideline. Pep hit the bar. Beattie got fouled, complained and got booked. That’s all I got. FT 3-0 A much better performance and a much better result. Cobwebs starting to be shaken off. Not our best performance but a good result nonetheless against a much improved German side. Clean sheet felt good. Looking for more of the same next week against the French. Thanks to Dirty Dozen for coming down to watch – no1 fan. MOM Latini – Phil MOM Casuals – no10
We lost again... Best thing was the beer after the game together with Latini @ Brotzeit.
