GSAS lined up against a younger Vikings side on what would be an especially hot day. The Germans started the game well with some decent midfield battles and eventually breaking down the right with some excellent passes, Quirin worked hard to find some space near the byline and provided an excellent cross to the back post where Fabian was waiting to finish the move off from an especially tight angle. Vikings would strike back in a similar fashion a while later when a break down the right led to a nice cross to the striker’s feet in a crowded box where he took a nice touch and finished past the keeper. In the second half Vikings controlled possession well with GSAS putting up a solid defensive line and forcing a couple of chances on the counter. Both teams had potential to take the points but in the end GSAS would be happy taking a point from a team ranked much higher in the table. A fair game all round, thanks to the refs who made a great well managed game, and good luck to Vikings for their remaining games this season.
On a scorching day at GESS, the Vikings put out our youngest matchday squad in memory. With several players away, we called on youth to give us legs against a tough GSAS side. In a game which lacked quality, Vikings couldn't quite get going in terms of flowing football. GSAS going 1-0 midway through 1st half. Vikings managed to play some nice football to make it 1-1 with Peter crossing for Joe who finished nicely. Wasn't to be in second half, a very frustrating game in terms of quality from both sides. Fair play to GSAS who as always put up a great spirited display in defence, proving to good to break down.
