Report

GSAS 0-4 International Lions

GSAS started well but failed to keep possession for long. The Germans made few good counters forcing Lions keeper to make important saves to keep the game level. GSAS complained at what felt like a handful of soft freekicks and yellow card decisions - preventing the game from becoming too much of a physical battle. Lions broke well down the right hand side and a cut back into the box was taken well to put the game at 0-1 just before the half. The second half was a similar story with the main GSAS goal threats coming from fast counter attacks. A crucial moment in the game came when Lions keeper made an incredible save from Julian’s well struck free kick that seemed destined for the bottom corner. As the minutes ticked on, the youthful Lions showed their stamina taking control of the game and finishing off the last 15 minutes with two well taken goals and a penalty strike from a clear trip in the box. Even a cameo from GSAS legend Pipo wasn’t enough to save points for the Germans - but to be fair the game has moved on since his heyday of long balls over the top and crunching tackles from behind going unpoliced. Perhaps he’s spent too long in Bavaria where an Inverted Full-Back is still just a cut of pork, and a Box Midfield is where you keep your goats during winter. A fair game all round, best of luck to Lions for the rest of the season.

Match review: German Swiss All Stars vs International Lions

For this match, International Lions was determined to get 3 points against German Swiss All Stars. With a well-prepared squad, including some new additions, the team approached the game with discipline and intensity from the first whistle. The start of the match was physical, with a series of fouls and an early yellow card setting the tone for a physical battle. However, International lions quickly took control of the ball, maintaining solid possession and dictating the tempo. The team displayed excellent composure, moving the ball efficiently and creating multiple opportunities. Despite the opposition’s resistance, the breakthrough came as our attacking efforts paid off just before the halftime. The first 25 min of the second half saw Int Lions kept possession of the ball without, unfortunately, finding the change to score. All of it changed quickly as International Lions scored three goals in the span of 10-15min getting a comfortable lead. The goal from our new player, Fayzulloh, make the break following by a superb serving from Max to Louis who managed to score. Finally, Max scored a penalty to take a 4-0 lead. Overall, the backline was well-organized, cutting off any attempts from the German Swiss All Stars to find a way back into the game. A standout performance came from our goalkeeper, who delivered crucial saves at key moments. His decisive stops keep us in the game. Next week, we will play agaisnt Hotspurs for a new encounter and to keep the positive run. All the best for GSAS for the remainder of the season.
