Walking home empty handed again

Walking home empty handed again Swiss had a tight squad for the first time in a few weeks. Few short/long term injuries would test our depth in the coming weeks. But as this match would show that, we have a decent squad (and still building) since the beginning of the season. Its not the first time we walk away from Turf City empty handed, feeling that we deserved minimum 1 point, maybe more. This time a narrow defeat against the reigning champions. After going 0-1 down, no heads dropped, and not only did we level through Dimi but also took the lead in the 2nd half after a fantastic counter attack from the Swiss front 4, Joel applying the finishing touch. It was certainly a tight game and by no means one sided with both teams having chances to score. 3 weeks running, lapses of concentration and bad luck (and their deadly strike force) allowed Rangers to score 2 goals with about 15-20 mins to go. Performances are definitely okay, and we are at times playing some really nice football - the points must come, surely ! Why not on Friday against OG!?

The Plate Was Finally Licked

After the last two disappointing results the Rangers lads were keen to get back to winning ways against an obviously improving Swiss team. Coming into the match, with a few key players missing, we knew this was not going to be easy peasy lemon squeezy. After Action Jackson had a mild breakdown about wearing white shorts because he cant handle black as it makes his legs look pale, we got going. The game started fairly well for the neutral, the Swiss looking threatening down the flanks and our striker force of Action Jackson and Sharp Shooter getting chances to put us ahead. Rangers took the lead midway through the first half when Action Jackson brought the ball down, turned inside his defender and curled a splendid shot over the keeper, to the delight of the 3 avid Rangers ultra fans watching on. Swiss never gave up and got an equaliser from a corner when Dimitri got infront of Nate Dizzle to tuck home at the front post. Our Canadian Giant tried to pretend the ball didn't go over but he was fooling nobody, not even his Korean girlfriend believed him. More chances before the end of the half, Nate Dizzle was put through only for his tame left footed shot to stop rolling by the time it got to the penalty spot. Sharp shooter also missed two glorious chances that were put on a plate for him. By his own high standards even Stevie could have finished them off and he has never scored at the right end in 8 years of Singaporean football. Prolific. HT:1-1 The Swiss always looked a threat on the break but couldn't find that extra bit to score just yet. Dicky Dare was put through on goal for yet another one-on-one but obviously forgot which way we were shooting and passed it back instead, he claims a mole popped up but there's no video evidence of that. In other incidents, our Canadian Giant decided to have a staring competition for what felt like three weeks, a few players even applied MC for Monday just in case it didn't finish in time. After this the Swiss took the lead with another counter attack, and some sloppy defending thrown in, but was finished well to make it 2-1. Now we were in a bit of a pickle. With 15 to go Sharp Shooter decided to actually finish one for once, and stop thinking about his imaginary girlfriend, to make it 2-2. The game was swinging both ways such was the entertainment, with last ditch tackling, blocks, misfiring, even seeing skipper Bernd and Stevie having a lovers tiff on the pitch (shocked emoji). In the last 10 mins Rangers finally got the winner with Sharp Shooter running clear and slotting home to take his tally to 20 for the season in all competitions. Remi has promised the website will be updated soon so Mike can stop complaining about how many goals he's actually on. FT: 3-2 Rangers wish Swiss all the best for the rest of the season and have no doubt they will start climbing the table very soon if they continue to play like that. MOM for Rangers was Action Jackson, he scored one and made one as well as being a nuisance all game. MOM for Swiss was Dimitri, who was a threat all game and will no doubt cause more defences problems with his pace and direct running. Good player.
