Another game with the same scenario we have been facing since the start of the season Game started well with good control of the ball and a deserved lead which we could have push further 1-0 at half time with a well played spirit and good momentum Unfortunately we started to gradually decline and rapidly conceded the equaliser and even saw the hibs take the lead. A golden opportunity missed and a few moment later we conceded the 3rd goal. Hubs finished the game by scoring the fourth from another mistake Well done to the hubs and thanks to the ref for the game
Hibs and Gaulois met on a cloudy and wet afternoon for an important match for both sides. While Hibs looked at it as an opportunity to consolidate their position in the middle of the table, the Frenchmen were on the hunt for precious points in their quest for leaving the bottom of the league, a position that, judging by the way they played, does not reflect their quality at all. The first half saw a combative French side taking hold of possession and winning most duels. Their Napoleonic tenacity paid off when, in the sequence of a nicely taken corner, the Gaulois scored from a well-directed header that ended at the top left angle of Joe Storrar’s goal. Hibs tried to respond, and their best chance came from a quick counter-attack which culminated in a venomous cross from Vasco which flew past by Sam Luckett, Hibs secret weapon, who missed the ball by an inch. 1-0 to the Gaulois was the score at the end of the first half. Disappointed with their performance so far, Hibs knew that they needed to be more aggressive during the second half if they wanted to win the three points. With Will at the hospital increasing his recent unfortunate collection of head stitches, Bolton was trusted to take the helm and direct the team during the second half. Whether it was due to his or Maayan’s words at halftime or some other indiscernible reason, the reality is that Hibs dramatically changed their attitude and quickly established control of the game. Sam Luckett, who played brilliantly, scored Hibs’ first goal by putting away a nice cross coming from the left flank. This was followed by a goal from Vasco who, inspired by the sounds and memories of unforgettable nights at Senor Taco, scored from a direct free kick. A few minutes later, Sam Luckett was, once again, the man of the moment after scoring Hibs third goal. It was a nice header from a corner kick. According to him, this was a very special goal because the last header he scored was during his primary school years. Tiago and Felix dominated the midfield with all-action displays, providing the foundation for all of Hibs attacks, and Joe had a great game deputizing in goal, pulling off some astonishing saves. Hibs would still have time to score one more goal. Akin to Napoleon’s decision to invade Russia, the men in green benefitted from a harsh mistake of the Gaulois back line which gifted Rafa an easy goal. Words to describe his celebration afterwards cannot capture his passion for the game of football, and, we hope, the Hibs. It was a game of two halves. One written in blue, the other in green. A come-from-behind 4-1 victory for the Hibs, after a scintillating second half display which saw them put four unanswered past a combative and resilient Gaulois in what was a high-tempo match. Good luck to Gaulois for the rest of the season and thanks for the game.
