Report

For the new year 2025, International Lions aimed to start the year better than they finished 2024. With 17 players present and 16 on the match sheet, despite a few absentees, International Lions managed to field a competitive team, combining both the younger and older players. The first 25 minutes were of very high quality, with International Lions taking the lead thanks to a superb free kick by Max. 1-0, but Hibs quickly responded, equalizing with a great team play on the right side. The first half ended 1-1, with an enjoyable and intense match. In the second half, International Lions took control, especially after the five substitutions has been made during the second half and made an immediate a big impact. Salvador scored to make it 2-1, followed by a brace from Robert, the newly appointed coach of the professional team Hougang United's, bringing the score to 4-1. Although Hibs pulled one back, it did not change the final result, and International Lions won 4-2 to start the new season on a high note. A special mention goes to Louis Chevallier, just turned 17 years old, who was exceptional throughout the match. Next week, we will meet Hibs again for a new encounter, this time in the league.

Post-Christmas Scrap ends in defeat for Hibs

A well-contested match ended with a 4-2 loss for Hibs in the cup against International Lions. Plenty of Christmas timber was on display on the field, particularly from the lads in green, and in the first half it showed that most players hadn't touched a football in weeks - with both teams gifting possession far too cheaply. International Lions took the lead midway through the first half with a free kick from Max. That seemed to spark Hibs into life, and a well-crafted equaliser with Sam McGough bombing down the right wing with a fantastic overlap and cross ended with Sam Luckett tucking the ball into the net smartly for his first goal of the season. Hibs began the second half brightly, linking play better and being more patient on the ball, and had the more dangerous chances, with Will going close with an effort and Pedro causing plenty of problems down the right wing. However, a poor goal conceded at the other end from another set piece meant the Lions took a 2-1 lead, and Hibs' heads dropped. Lions took full advantage and scored another couple of goals from crosses down the right hand side, building up an unassailable advantage. Hibs scored a brilliantly worked goal in the last five minutes, with Louis nipping in and setting Will free down the right (whilst he continued his own gallop towards the box). Will squared it to Sam, who slid in Nick on the left wing. Nick took his time, picked his spot, and curled a delicious shot into the side netting for a great debut goal. Well done to the Lions for their win and we look forward to facing you again next week.
