A standard blistering hot Singapore Saturday afternoon, saw Singapore FC line up against an in form Vikings team, placed third in the table. We expected to be in for a tough afternoon and as expected the Vikings team was well drilled and tough to break down. The first major moment of the afternoon came after just 2 minutes when a late challenge on Roberto saw him unable to continue. A quick reshuffle was required and Luke T. entered the fray whilst Anthony Garreau dropped in to defence. The deadlock was eventually broken by a well taken Vikings goal with Joe finishing with a neat lob, over an onrushing Santi. 1-0 Vikings. At the half hour mark, after considerable possession, SFC finally levelled the scores, as Soshi was released by Liam George after a successful press. Soshi making no mistake as clipped the ball past the Vikings keeper. 1-1; which is how it stayed going in at half time. The second half saw the introduction Fazrul who wasted no time in getting involved, winning a corner which he then floated in. Soshi finding space on the edge of the box to tuck home Liam George's front post flick on. 2-1 to SFC. 50 minutes played. A quick 1-2 exchange with Soshi 5 minutes later saw Fazrul open his account as he smashed the ball in to the top corner to make it 3-1. Credit where credit is due, the Vikings team didn't stop working and that paid off as Joe scored his second of the afternoon, to pull the scoreline back to 3-2. Going in to the final ten minutes of the game, the match became increasingly stretched. SFC looked to exploit this down the flanks, whilst Tom and Isak kept things neat and tidy in the middle. SFC continued to test the Vikings backline, with Nils and Marshy linking up well down the left and Eamon and Soshi down the right. This eventually resulted in Fazrul scoring his second and SFC's fourth. Fazrul linking up with, man of the moment, Soshi before skipping round the Vikings keeper to finish well, as the referee blew for full time. Final Score: Singapore FC 4 Vikings 2 Thank you to Vikings and the match officials for a great game. From everyone at SFC, happy holidays to everyone in the Cosmo League. See you all in 2025!
