Another comeback classic. Tricky weather conditions and a makeshift defence together with a good start from OG saw us trailing 2-0 in the first half. An excellent backwards header from Tom McE chipping the Gaulois goal keeper helped us get back in rhythm late in the first half. We persisted with our game plan into the second half and a few well worked moves led to our next goals to complete the win: 1) Liam S working down the left, big switch to the Soshi on the right, dangerous cross into the path of Faz with a tidy finish. 2) Liam S taking on two players on the right and cutting in for Soshi to slot in. 3) A clean through ball by Faz for the young Rocky (making his starting line up debut) to outmuscle the defender and slot in. Another strong mental performance from the boys to turn the game around. Thank you to OG for the well contested & entertaining game.

Report

Good display of football from Gaulois, but yet another loss

After a disappointing loss two weeks ago against Hibs and key players missing, Gaulois SC was not coming very confident into this game against Singapore FC. Yet, the squad showed a very good display of football and could have gotten at least one point from that contest. Kick-off was slightly delayed because of lightning alert but the team started strong the game. For the 1st 20min, Gaulois SC was doing great stuff with the ball, and got the best opportunity to score with Singapore FC defender saving the ball on his line. On the corner that followed, JB found Isiaka who who pushed the ball into the net (1-0 20min). Shortly after, on a kick from the GK, Richard deviated the ball in between 3 defenders to let JB find his way to a face to face with the GK, and scored (2-0 25min). The next 20min, Gaulois SC let the ball to Singapore FC who did not create much opportunity, but on another free kick given by the ref, Singapore FC found the net with a back header that lobbed our GK (2-1 40min). At half time, Gaulois SC made 2 changes to keep fresh legs for the 2nd half. Singapore FC started strong and found the post on a nice free kick. Few minutes later on a splendid assist from their Japanese winger, they found their striker in between 2 defenders and equalized (2-2 55min). For the next 20min, both Gaulois SC and Singapore FC had the opportunity to take the advantage with Gaulois SC touching also the post with JB, and 2/3 nice other shots saved by the GK or just out of the frame. Unfortunately, as too often this season, Gaulois SC conceded a goal after a nice work from their striker on the right (2-3 80min). No other opportunity for Gaulois SC from there and they sealed the score with a 4th goal in last 2min (2-4 90’). Thanks Singapore FC for a nice game.
