Tough loss for all stars. After a tough loss against Latini All stars headed into the match with a lot of focus. The game started with both sides composed on a ball trying to establish their dominance. The game was even until a timid cross into the German box led to a miss communication between the keeper and the defenders leading to an own goal. The second goal came shortly after when Germans again failed to clear a simple ball leading to a simple tap in for a Viking’s striker. GSAS conceded another goal on the counter later in the half. Second half was similar with both sides trying to score. Germans finally got one back but conceded 2 more in return. Max got sent off for catapulting the boot into the referee’s direction sometime in the second half. But ultimately it wouldn’t change the outcome of the game.
In an exhilarating encounter, the Vikings showcased their dominance with a convincing 5-1 victory over the German-Swiss Allstars. For the first 10 minutes of the game the Vikings had to get used to playing on a new pitch and it seemed like itvwould be an even game, however a lucky break for the Vikings came via a own goal by GSAS. This finally ignited the Vikings and went to half time 3 goals up via goals from Joe (assist Albert) and Albert (assist Peter)... 2nd half started well, the Vikings displayed their intent, demonstrating sharp passing and relentless pressure that kept the Allstars on the back foot... Sunday Max got the chance from the start of the 2nd half and quickly showed why he is joint top scorer for the Sunday team, with a clinical finish about 10 mins into the 2nd half (assist Albert)... 4-0 up and the game was more or less done by then. The Allstars however managed to pull one back about halfway through the 2nd half, giving them a glimmer of hope, but the Vikings' resilience shone through and instead Sasha made it 5-1 after excellent work from Ilhan down the right side and sealed the win for the Vikings. While the scoreline was one-sided, the German-Swiss Allstars displayed great spirit and sportsmanship throughout the match. Their efforts deserve commendation, and we wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season. Coach CJ
