Report

After a disappointing result in the title race last weekend, 1TM were determined to get back on track against the Germans in another Friday Night Lights. We were without several key players due to work commitments but Tactical Tally had worked his magic to assemble a decent squad for the contest. It may have been the hangover from last weekend, the formation of newish starting 11 or getting used to the smaller pitch but 1TM started the game really sluggishly. On the other hand, the Germans were physical without the ball and demonstrated quality with it. It was the Germans who created the better chances in the opening 45 and with more composure should have taken the lead. 1TM created some chances but the German ‘keeper produced a couple of good stops but we weren’t able to break the deadlock. The second half was better for 1TM with us enjoying more possession and carving a couple more chances that either went just wide or the keeper saved. Duplo hit a wonderful effort from distance that clipped the bar. The Germans had their own sight of goal and it was just poor finishing or our woodwork that stopped them scoring. In the end, the draw was a fair if not fortunate result for 1TM. We go again in a couple of weeks against the French with an aim of finishing the season well and build momentum for the cup Thanks to the GCs, officials and Germans for a good game Kit - ? Missing chances

After a disappointing performance against International Lions GSAS field a strong line up to face the champions of the previous season in Latini. It was the last game of the season for GSAS and the coaches were optimistic to get a result if GSAS could maintain their discipline and hit Latini on the counter. The game unfolded according to the plan except for missing chances from GSAS one after another. First Julian hit the post. Then the chance fell to flying Peter who could have done better to put GSAS in front. Next was Felix with a good chance from Julian’s wonderful through ball, but he blasted the ball well over. Then the Latini’s keeper gifted Julian an one on one chance, but like the previous attempts Julian and GSAS failed to hit the target. The game started to hit up and Latini carved up a few chances of their own from set pieces. The ball fell to their player at the back post but Rudy made himself big and kept the scoreline at 0-0. The half-time ended with GSAS surprised at how dangerous they were. In half time the coaches encouraged the team to go for it and the team just did that, but again failed to score in the second half. The first clear chance fell to Phillipe who headed the ball into the ground, wrongfooted the keeper but only managed to hit the cross bar. Latini answered with a beautiful shot by Duplo from a distance that hit the corner of the post (that would sure have been a heartbreak for GSAS). As the favourites Latini continue to push but were left open to GSAS attacks who exposed empty spaces behind Latinit’s defence. Final chance of the game fell to Dee who ran on a great ball from Phillipe, but again failed to beat the keeper and shot straight at him. The game ended with neither of the teams satisfied. The GSAS clearly had the better clear-cut chances but the finishing didn’t match overall energy and the performance of the team. Nevertheless, it was a great, competitive game of football with both teams going at it. The MOM goes to Philip for his energetic display in midfield accurate ball distribution. Special mention to Andre too who managed to keep Sharples quite for most of the game.
