Under the blazing sun at Dulwich College, the stage was set for an intense showdown between SFC and the Vikings, the latter showing their mettle by opting for their black strip. SFC asserted their authority early on, dictating play throughout the first half. Their efforts paid off when Claridge expertly volleyed in a rebounded header from Nawaz. Just before the halftime whistle, Shotton furthered their advantage with a powerful strike, once again orchestrated by Nawaz. Despite SFC's dominance and a flurry of opportunities, the Vikings proved their resilience on the counter, causing moments of uncertainty from a couple of corners. The second half saw a shift in momentum, with the Vikings arguably enjoying the upper hand. Despite their efforts, Melechovsky's skilful volley that struck the far post was as close as they came. Ultimately, the clean sheet was a fitting reward for the commanding performances of Shepherd, Rezai, Cullinane, Pompey, Goh, and man-of-the-match Bruce at the back.
A strong 14 - reduced to 13 with the happy event of fatherhood for Tomas (congrats) , then having to altering the lineup with a toddler playing hide and seek with Daddy’s phone…. Joe eventually made and was a welcome introduction at around the 30 minute mark. The game started strangely tactical with SFC utilizing the pitch and the out balls much better, and took the opener after a swift counterattack and some poor clearing from the our defense, while the second well taken finish just shows the class of shutton. From that point on one could argue that vikings dominated and a feeling that had we taken that first goal with 15/20 to go, where we produced a couple of sitters, there could have been some points up for grabs. In the end SFC defense kept the door closed and we had nothing to show. Great game , good fight and we are ready to take on Hibs in a battle for 4th spot next weekend .
